hi
i cant seem to get a low latency out of my ct5760 i have been using 2.00ms perfectly for playback and loved it but if i try to set up an asio track the latency jumps through the roof and i get the traditonal pop and click unless i set the latency to well over 21ms wich is bad for me cause most of the things i do is in realtime. the onlything that im recording that has and dsp fx is the line wich uses the dynamics processor and the drum machine limiter patch. any suggestions? |

I don't know if it will help but try to increase the priority of the process of the host.
ctrl+shift+esc, Processes tab, right-click the name of the host, go to set priority and set it a little higher. |

this i s a great card but im starting to think i might need more of a powerful one in order to get lower latency. no offense of course!
what latency is everyone else acheiving when recording into asio? |

I do not think that your card would make all that much of a difference. I think your performance (as far as Asio goes) would be more dependant on your system (CPU, Memory, OS configuration, etc).
Try optimizing your system. Disable any unused Asio inputs in you host software (use only what you need during that session). Try the different Sync methods in the kX Asio control panel to see if any of them work better for you. |

I have an Audigy and I get 8ms with 4 softsynths. If I use soundfonts loaded into kX synth, I can use 2.66-4ms latency settings. 8ms is low enough on my system. |

yes optimising has seemed to get me down to about 2.7 ms before recording when i close unsused channels but now i have to hault my quest for low latency till i can figure out why my car all of a sudden only let my host detect the left channel of my mixer.
sorru if i misunder stood you travel!!!

seems that 4ms is working great so far. i guess i will have to settle for this for now till i can find out more about how to tweak my system. thanks guys!!

I used to have similar problems but sorted all by installing a second XP OS on a separate partition then useing XPlite to strip the OS down to the minimum. No internet, nothing unnecessary whatsoever. It works a treat: 2.66 latency is effortless. And everything loads like lightening too.

yeah ive been tempted to do that for some time but i have to do a lot of online collaborations so i dont think that would go too well but there's always something i could take out of windows

If you use a seperate HD for your DATA then it's possible to use the stripped OS just for when latency is critical, like when recording. You can then switch back to the main OS for online stuff etc. It's very handy and the 2nd OS doesn't really take up that much space on your program drive. I guess there are questions of legality with some software but I'd argue that it should certainly be allowed to have two versions of software on the same machine as you're obviously not going to be using them both at the same time.
