crackle and midi problem in sx3, not in sx2

Aloha people,

first: mad props to the kx-crew, if it wasnt for you i would have bombed the creative headquarters...

then my problem:

i used to make music with cubase sx2, no problems at all. 2 ms latency was no problem, i used 5 ms because i found 2 ms to be too insane to be true... Now that i've switched to sx3 i'm having all sorts of irritating problems. First: i'm having crackle/pops during playback, even with the most simple plugins. Also at some points the audio plays back so slow everything sounds very... robotic... even 40 ms doesnt even solve this. I've tuned my pc for audio, also set the process priorities to realtime, so that should be okay. Oh, restarting cubase solves the robotic problem.

Midi is being nasty as well, it stops working after a 10 minutes orso, and a reset in cubase doenst help. what does help is playing with the kx asio driver in cubase, not changing anything, just playing with it. then it works again, but not long enough...

Does anyone know if this is a bug in sx3, or that i'm doing something completely wrong?

setup:
cubase sx3
kx drivers, duh...
pentium 4 2,5 ghz, intel
1 gig ram
180 gig hd, raid so fast enough
windows xp, sp2, clean install.
there's also a audigy 2 in the system, but i only use it for the surround feature, i dont want to replug calbes

thanks for your time,
cheerio!

Zulus, you're a genius!

seeing that you use the 3538 version made me think: why not use an older driver... so, using 3534 -> problem solved...

thanks mate!
