audigy SB0090

Hi all, first time poster here.

I'm looking at purchasing this soundcard off EBAY....
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Creative-Audigy-Sound-Blaster-SB0090-used_W0QQitemZ6824178554QQcategoryZ44981QQrdZ1QQcm dZViewItem

I guess my first question is will this work with the drivers?
Secondly, how many outputs will I be able to have? I want to run a program called XLOBBY which enables me to have different music running in different parts of the house. I need at least 4 stereo outputs.

Thanks in advance

Dj Jon

yes kX will work with this card, but you will only have 3 stereo outputs unless you use some internal wiring to chain a second sound card to it

Thats cool. Can I still use the on-board sound for another output?

Can you recommend any card that would give me 4 outputs?

Thanks again

audigy 2 ZS has 4 outputs, but you'll need a pair of camcorder cables that have 3 RCA points and a 4 pole jack to access three of those four.

check your motherboard's manual for the SPDIF pinout. If the motherboard has an SPDIF input then yes you can use it. I know that some gigabyte boards have spdif input

Hi again,

Just to confirm then. The camcorder cables are just RCA to mini headphone cables. To go from the soundcard to an amp?

This may sound like a totally noob question, but what is a four pole jack?
Regarding the Spdif connection, I don't have one. Do the KX drivers automatically disable the normal on-board audio?

If not then I can have three outputs from the audigy and one from the on-board.

Thanks again

yes you are correct

a four pole jack is the same as any normal 3.5mm headphone style jack, except it has four connection points and three bands as opposed to the three connection points and two bands on a headphone jack

as long as your program allows you to select multiple soundcards, then yes you can use your onboard also, as kX does not interfere

Hi all.
Ok I've gone for a Sb live 5.1 (CT4870). So with this card and the drivers how many stereo outputs will this give me without any modifications?

And the second question, what would be the max I can get? I only need about 4 stereo outputs in total.

Thanks again

Cool. Thanks again Dj Stick. No doubt I will have more questions, like how to utilize the Spdif connections. But that can wait till I get the card!!!
