How to connect?
Here is my new question, and I REALLY wish I would have found this site a couple of years ago!!!!! Day four of Kx, and my mind is racing with the possibilities. ANYHOW, here's my questions...
1. What is the BEST method to connect an audigy 2 Platinum and an Audigy? do I have to link them? I have a SBLIVEdrive connected to the Audigy, And the AUdigy 2 has its Drive. I want to maximizee the number of recordable inputs to INDIVIDUAL TRACKS in SONAR 2.2. (ideally line1 and line2 on each sound card to an individual track for at least 8 simultaneous MONO UNMIXED tracks. 2. Can I increase this number by using the ANALOG CD input on each card? 3. I also have a midi Keyboard and VDRUMS (midi). Should I run them both thru one synth on one card, or one on each card? What will this configuration do to my soundfonts? Any help, once again, is appreciated. |

Man you need to search this forum using the Search feature at the top right, and read and study the guide you can get to from here: http://driverheaven.net/showthread.php?t=55649

ok for maximum inputs, you'll only be able to use as many inputs as ONE card can receive.
the Audigy 2 has two digital inputs to receive from other cards, while the Audigy/Live have three. I recommend selecting the audigy 1 as the master, and routing as many digital outputs from the audigy 2 to it (if possible). Also if you want to use the analog inputs lie the CD_IN, use AUX_IN, it has a slightly higher quality due to the ground being lifted on the CD_IN

Thank you for the information, and re-reading the forums and guides (after some tinkering) I was able to build a custom DSP that isn't completely doing what I want yet, but I am on my way. for anyone else who is new, understanding the signal flowpath is crucial, and if you are a musician, the biggest tip is to forget about the "standard" mixers and figure out how to build a custom dsp that does what YOU want.
I don't understand why can't I use both cards as two individual DSP's and route the speaker outputs to a mixer, and mix outside the computer before going to speakers? |
