It should be stereo since it uses the I2S codec. Try and find it out.

IIRC the when in "MIC" mode it is mono, but it should be stereo for LINE IN

Well - Doesnt that Port to 2 FXBuss lines - reguardless of whats connected on the FP..

I mean - isnt it a mono - to stereo conversion in hardware? When A mic is plugged in I assumed iy was sending mic to both left and right - then to the ADC.

So, in Sonar I can still record a 'stereo' track of that MIC input - its just L&R are identical.

Or Am I mis-understanding sumthin?

You could be right there maddog, but i would personally use the mono signal just incase there were slight variations in the channels of the upmixed signal, just to preserve fidelity, and if i needed it in stereo i would use my sequencer to up-mix it

The bottom line is that I can't split the input and record two separate inputs (MIC 1 and BASS). I tried, with several different adapters, and it always combines the input to stereo L&R tracks. Can I split the line input on the back of the card? and can I do this with the analog in on the card by making an adapter? ( the AN IN is the 4 pin on the card- pin1 and 4 are L and R , 2 and 3 are ground. So if I make an adapter to 2 rca plugs, or 2 MONO 1/4 female, can I get two more inputs to the card? (and 2 more record tracks in ASIO?)

1st - did you read this?
http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/issues.php?language=en

Granted I think its outdated.. but??

Now, the hardware is kinda funky on how the AC97 based inputs are handled - you either MIX EM ALL or just one at a time.
BUT look in these forums, I think the new ProFX plugins may allow to do this.

BUT it would still be recorded as either in 2 mono track (L on 1 track, R on other - then panned) - OR record both into 1 stereo track and (Balanced).

INPUTS/OUTPUTS found on EXTENTION connectors on the card ARE NOT ANALOG - AFAIK. They are (probably) SPDIF and need D/A or A/D conversion (hardware mod / live drive)

BUT YES - with those extra inputs, which ARE NOT AC97 btw, allow recording multiple inputs at 1 time (onto seperate mono tracks) in sonar and probably cubase - USING ASIO. I beleive 6 at 1 time is possible with A2ZS Plats. But I never really tested it.

WinMM recording is 2/ch. - stereo only.

For games -

EAX is NOT supported (prolly never will).
But most Direct Sound work OK
A3D IS supported.
