Hope someone can help: installed KX on Soundblaster SB0060 Live! 5.1 and now my mic no longer works.
Everytime I go to adjust master mixer volume kX1/MicIn volume is reset to zero (mute is not on). When I set to full seems to reset volume but when I test mic I find it has been reset to zero again. I cannot adjust volume on voice recording device. When I attempt to test hardware the recording and playback volume are greyed out and cannot be adjusted. I cannot adjust the volume in audio input setting on speech recognition and there is no playback when I adjust microphone configuration. But in the kX manager all the mic setting seem to be at correct levels and when I change the AC97 settings to Mic I can hear my voice through my headphones- suggesting to me that the mic is working okay (ie it is not a hardware problem). Can anyone give me any advice- much appreciated... |

If you haven't learned how to build a custom DSP, and how the signal routing works, you must do this before assuming something is wrong. Read these references thoroughly and build yourself a DSP that does waht you want. Get rid of that mixer that comes standard, it caused me hours of confusion, when all I had to do was take a little time to read and understand the guides and signal routing. There are two good references here:

Hello,
I have used the KX drivers for my SB sound card for some time. I installed it only because of the low latency, since I need it with Reason. Referring to prior posts in this thread, I will try to read and understand the available documentation, but I have one question: Shouldn't there be an easy way to make the KX drivers behave EXACTLY like the original Creative drivers? I guess there are more users interested in the low latency only. Once I get the line and microphone inputs working, I will be most satisfied. Merry Christmas everyone! - Thomas |

well - if you want CL driver behaviour - use their driver
Whats the saying about having cake and eating it too? Not be crass - but really, how can anyone expect POWER/FLEXIBILTY and Idiot-proof operation - with a driver developed by ANYONE? - much less an independant (small) group as is with KX project. A huge corporation like CL - can't seem to do it , but you expect KX to. And now, a moment of silence to refelct on reality?... If i have a choice - 'power with complexities' or 'idiot proof operation' - well, I love KX - 'nuff said. Can -I- get an AMEN? Brother Mark. (loyal worshipper from the congregation of KX) |

Ofcourse i didnt mean to disrespect any of the work done by the kX team, its great that we can get this stuff for free. Nor did i say i needed the complexity
It's just hard to catch on for beginners, so I would've loved a version with just a few options, just not to get lost. I know I'll just have to bite through that, but theres just a little problem im having with the drivers thats bugging me out, so I liked the post above. <funny way of saying goodbye> fragk |
