AC97 activation hotkey?
hello, I use kx drivers in a carpc environment, if I keep AC97 source always unmuted I got background noise from the speakers, so I'm looking for a way to activate AC97 input only when needed, maybe using an hotkey or an external application which could access the mixer configuration and enable/disable AC97 without altering the volume settings.. I know I could use two different DSP settings and load one of them when needed but it's kinda problematic with the volume setting beeing saved in the DSP preset.. any idea? thank you

I 99% certain it IS possible - but Im also thinking the exact commant to use may depend on DSP config.
One way I KNOW is possible is a command that can CONNECT and DISCONNECT pins in the DSP - this prolly isnt most desired method - but I think can work. OR *maybe* theres a simple register to set (Mute On/Off) - but I cant find info on this at the moment. Look here as it pertains to you also.. http://www.hardwareheaven.com/general-discussion/76116-using-kxctrl-swap-front-rear-output.html |

A .bat file containing;
kxctrl -sac97 reg val should work. Review ac97.h and ac97 specs for what register/value. HTH, /LeMury |

well I saw that if you mute the linein in the windows mixer it works, and I know how to address that control with my frontend touchscreen application.. so I think I solved
by the way I don't know why I get so much noise from the line in.. even if I do not connect a jack to the SB linein I get noise.. EDIT: by the way, thanks for the replies

to reduce noise to minimum - inputs should be to ground - disconnecting *may* not do this - and the input pin can act like an antenna - especially in a car.
Power supply injected noise - car alternator power is VERY noisy - and true earh grounds are not likely. Make sure your mobile PC has clean power supplied to it. If using an invertor - try another brand or increase the inverter capacity So If Im using a 250W PS on my mobile PC - Id prolly look for a 400 or 500 W inverter. As inverters near capacity - any number of things can happen - 1) Intermitant PC shutdown - from invertor turning off 2) Clipped or distorted power input - causing harmonics to be triggered and NOT necessarily filtered out. |

humm, will try to ground them properly, thanks
the alternator is not an issue, I use a DCDC psu so it's all filtered and stabilized |
