Rockonthis21 is on a distinguished road

Assistance is appreciated.....

This is a long post, with as much detail as I can provide. I don’t think I am going to achieve my end goal without some assistance.

Here is my current setup:

2 cards, sb0240, with livedrive (audigy 2)

Sb0090, audigy, with sbLIVE! Livedrive – (no aux in RCA on the livedrive)

INPUTS:

Rocktron (guitar Processor)-L-aux in L SB 0240 Livedrive

R-Aux in R SB 0240 Livedrive

Johnson J-Station (guitar)-SPDIF Coax –Coax in SB0240 livedrive

Roland TD-10 V-drums L(master)- Line in livedrive SB0240

R(master)- Line in livedrive sb0240

direct 1-KICK-line in1 Left (back of SB0240)

direct 2-Toms- line in1 Right (back of SB0240)

direct 3-Hi Hat/Cymbals- line in1 Left (back of SB0090)

direct 4-Snare- line in1 Right (back of SB0090)

Midi in and out UART2 livedrive Sb0240

SPDIF Coax OUT sb0240 to SPDIF IN Coax sb0090(on livedrives). I did this just to see if I could record the 240 inputs in Cakewalk ASIO. Cakewalk has the 240 inputs grayed out. FIRST Question- how to swap cards in cakewalk? Or use both?

YAMAHA DX7 midi in and out sb0090 UART 2

Shure SM57 Microphone(thru preamp) Line in 2 L sb0090 Live drive –

Bass guitar DI out--------------------------Line in 2 R sb0090 Live drive-

I am also in the process of building a breakout box to give me 4 more analog line inputs directly to the soundcards using the Aux_ In (analog). It will be two more line ins per card. (I think, unless it uses the same input as the livedrive aux in, then I will only get 2 more). If this doesn’t work, I have an onboard SIS7012 audio line in L and R I can use too.

Outputs

SB0090 rear out L and R to channel 1 and 2 of a mixer

SB0240 rear out L and R to channel 3 and 4 of a mixer

Mixer to PA and speakers

Headphones out sb0090 and sb0240 out to headphones for monitoring. Or recording vocals.

So that is a detailed explanation of inputs and outputs, now here is where I need help. I built dsp’s for each card, using Pro FX, SRC(each input is a SRC, plus F/X bus 4/5 wave in from processor) –MX6-(kxlt2&ASIO). I know how to route any of the inputs to the MX6. I can adjust levels in MX6 for each instrument. I use the FX bus 4/5 as the wave input from the computer to the MX6. What I am having trouble with is getting the correct routings to ASIO and sonar 4. (Yes, I have read the guide and set up SONAR to use ASIO. See the note above about the sb 0240 ASIO inputs being grayed out). I want to be able to route each input to an ASIO output so that I can record “LIVE” on all the inputs, to individual tracks in my software. I am having trouble understanding the signal flowpath from card to card thru the spdif, and how the P16v routing works, and how it factors into achieving what I want to accomplish. I know I am on the right path, but if someone with experience is willing to assist me in coming up with the DSP’s for each card, it would be much appreciated. I also have logic audio platinum, and Cubase, I am just more comfortable in cakewalk. The MIDI instruments I think I have figured out.

Drums- the master output from the module goes to the input of the soundcard and is only routed to the output, not to recording. To record the drums I want to use the direct inputs from each drum so that I can EQ each differently.

Midi TO/FROM the drums is only used in this way:

Output TO the drum module to play back drums when no drummer available- midi IN on computer is disabled so that only the analog outputs go to the computer (yeah, I have dealt with this latency).

The Midi IN is only used to record drum parts in MIDI for playback when the drummer is not available. The way I see it, if I desired, I could record the drums in MIDI, and only play back the notes from the individual drums, then record the individual drums in analog, and repeat for each drum. It would just be easier to get them all on one shot.

Any tips/hints on how to get from point A to point B will be much appreciated, including anything that I may be doing incorrectly. I can post pics of the DSP’s I have so far later today, but they basically look like this:

SRC FXbus4/5--------------MX6 track1-------kxlt2

l-----ASIO 0/1

SRC(rocktron)LINE2------MX6 track2----------kxlt2

l-------ASIO5L

l-------ASIO5R

SRC(drums)AUX ----------MX6 track 3 ---------kxlt2

l-------ASIO6L

l-------ASIO6R

SRC(MIDI)FXbus 2/3 ----MX6 track 4 ---------kxlt2

l-------ASIO7L

l-------ASIO7R

SRC SPDIF COAX -------MX6track5

etc……….you get the picture.
