Wich should I use to interconnect? spdif out or optical out?

Hi there! Any difference between using spdif out->spdif in or optical out->optical in for interconnecting two cards? Any advantages/disadvantages?

Just wondering...

thanks.

System Specs

the optical and coaxial outputs are the same thing
just the same spdif signal over different media

optical is best for shorter distances (2-3m, longer with a higher quality cable), as long as the cable doesn't get bent too far, and coaxial is better for longer distances

DJ: I think, he meant the different SPIDIF I/O-pins, named SPDIF out (generic) and Optical out. These are the same things, only different outputs so different to route in the DSP, nothing more.

Johnny: You can use each digital SPDIF pin for interconnection, only be sure for the right polarity of the cable and only connect inputs with outputs and vice versa.

Thanks! Indeed I was refering to the different spdif and optical out present in the drive bay, I'll be usign one of them for sending the line in/mic2 input to my other card (wich also has a optical conector and a spdif connector) and I'll be sending the other card mix output to the other free digital input in the drive bay for monitoring. Hope it works.

Cheers!
