Problem Installing KX Driver in Win 2K
So I have a Sound Blaster Live card I want to put in to a machine running on Windows 2000. The problem is that it doesn't recognize the card and lists it as an "unkown device" in the device manager (even though Microsoft claims the Win2K SP4 [which I have installed] has native drivers for all SB cards).
So I tried to download the drivers from Creative, but nothing will install because the setup program exits when it doesn't detect a SB card. (how can I install the drivers for the card unless it recognizes the card which I need the drivers for in order to tell the installation program that it's an SB card!!!???) So someone recommended the KX driver, and it all looks good, except that it won't install either. I run the setup program, go to install, click ok to the "KX Setup will now install..." message, click cancel for the VST plugins question, then the "installation complete" message immediately pops up and asks me to restart. After doing so, it doesn't look like the driver is installed at all. And from what I was reading, there should be a lot more steps involved in the setup process. Can anyone help me with this? |

look for your card model - on the board it will say 'CT4690' or something...
then search these forums for any info pertaining to your card in particular. I think DELL oem lives have problems for instance also.. MAKE SURE IT IS A '10K1' OR '10K2' DSP based card - not all LIVES are, nor are new X-Fi - The KX main site has a list of known supported and un-supported cards. |
