Volume on boot very loud then drops.....
On boot the volume is all the way but once the kX tray icon kicks in it goes back to normal. Anyway to fix that?
Oh also I have these drivers installed for and Audigy 2 on Windows MCE, is there anyway to turn off the volume OSD bar? I have all features unchecked for it but it still comes up. Thanks. |

I still have not figured out why the windows start sound is soooo loud and then drops a half-a-second later to what I set it at. Does it take time for the kX drivers to load or something?
As far as the volume ODS, if I check multimedia keyboard it goes away, but the sound then seems to jump in loudness instead of smoothly getting louder when I raise the volume. Any ideas? |

I haven't had the loudness problem you are talking about on startup, but the sound breaks up somewhat on startup. I have always assumed it is because the drivers are loading but I don't know that for sure.

In WinXP - It does take a bit for KX mixer settings to get applied...
In a side bar.... Try adjusting speaker/amp volume down - and turn up everything in KX mixer - Im thinking - at bootup - before mixer settings are applied - the VOL is set to MAX.. I would then guess - your mixer settings are significantly lower than MAX... This condition, in general is not optimal for best signal/noise - but circumstances vary also.. in recording world - its refered to 'GAIN STAGE' techniques/understanding. OR - edit the WINDOWS STARTUP wave file to lower volume level - because it IS a 'loud' sound. Hope I helped... |

I am just using these drivers on my Audigy 2 to drive my 5.1 logitech speakers. I do not do any recording and prob will never use even half of the features these drivers had, I just wanted something reilable as creative's drivers suck. Shouldn't everything be at the master level when the computer boots?

Well - I do notice default DSP is lower volume than most of my DSP configs I make - But I tweak everything to be at -6db to -3db peak just about every where.
So, using default DSP - yes, I notice a larger volume difference than with my DSP config. For instance - on my card - DVD playback with AC3 filter is LOW volume - I had to either; tweak the AC3 filter (i did this); or add more boost in the KX DSP (assuming your NOT doing AC3 passthrough.) I would just suggest editing the startup wave and lower its volume... easily done with windows sound recorder - do the 'EDIT- or EFFECT-Lower by 3db' twice - should do nicely. Make a backup of it first tho... |

the startup sound is played before the drivers load, before the DSP is loaded into the 10kX, so any volume drops caused by the DSP will not effect the startup sound

Thanks I will give it a try. Also my sound jumps when I raise the volume via the keyboard. Instead of moving smoothly one bar at a time it will go 4-5 then well over 10. Any ideas what that might be. These drivers are def great but you really need to know what your doing it looks like.
Oh and I just reformated again. Right out of the format with nothing installed if I hit the volume button on the keyboard I get the OSD, so its not any of the audio drivers I am installing. I guess it is the default keyboard drivers. |

Any ideas about the volume jump I will be happy if i can just get rid of that. It happens with the creative drivers and the kX drivers. Could it be something with Windows MCE, I never had this problme with WinXP Pro.
