Popping and Static Sound w/SoundBlaster Audigy 2
Hello, I have a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 and just did a reinstall of Windows XP. I installed the Creative Drivers from the CD that came with the computer. However, after updating them on the Creative website, there is terrible static and popping all the time. I know it's a driver issue because I can boot into Linux and it sounds fine. I tried installing the KX drivers and that seemed to help right at system boot but once I load some apps up and actually start using the operating system it goes back. I also ran the Driver Cleaner to remove the Creative Drivers but this had no effect. Could Windows be somehow over-riding my sound drivers? Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Make sure you:
1) Uninstall Creative software 2) Manually remove CL drivers from device manager 3) reboot XP into safemode (press F8 @ Windows Splash Screen) 4) Run driver cleaner - remove ALL KX and CL entries. 5) reboot - cancel hardware wizard - Follow KX install instructions... This works 99.9% of the time - the other 0.1% - well, lets hope tha aint you..
