Is the Audigy drive bay's line in/mic low quality?
Just a very tiny small question (yes/no): http://www.hardwareheaven.com/images/s...big%20grin.gif
I connect my guitar to my audigy's front drive bay, in the line in/mic in (1/4 Jack). Is it worth to get a preamp such as BEHRINGER TUBE ULTRAGAIN MIC200 for my guitar or not? Is it any better (a lot, i mean)? |

For DI ...
I HIGHLY suggest a unit made for guitar - with AMP & CABINET MODELING - something KX DSP isnt really well suited for - I Have a Johnson J-Station - it has SPDIF OUT - was $150 brand new (no longer sold tho). does ~ 1 second of stereo delay, chorus, flange, reverb, compressor/gate... all the usual - even a wha if you use a MIDI CC#4 controller fed into its MIDI in. Very happy with the purchase. The POD is cool too - much more $$ tho - not sure about Digitechs stuff (who, btw, bought Johnson, and dropped their product lines..) Sounds like the Berhinger is MIC oriented - which is cool - for mics - for guitar - a AMP/CABINET modeling uint for Direct Injection of guitar, is THE way to go. PREFERED: THE BEST way to record guitar otherwise is with a Mic - preamp- KX INPUT. For this.. yes - a Mic pre-amp is good thing to have feeding the cards input. I would STILL suggest getting ANYTHING that has SPDIF out - which means it has external A/D - which means probable less noise inherently. As long as the units A/D are good. But external locale of same quality A/D is prefered also anyway. Thats my not so humble opinion... |

Ooops I mentioned POD and IT DOES NOT HAVE SPDIF outs...
The MAudio blackbox does - sounds quite interesting - beat synced effects like delay, filter, appregio, beats.. sounds like fun.. never seen one tho. The VAMP Pro (Rack Unit - NOT TABLE TOP) has SPDIF out There may be others, but these are the ones I found - this stuff changes soo quickly. There's Korgs Pandoras - but not sure if SPDIF out - it has amp / cab modeling tho. |
