ho can i get dd 5.1 ?
Hi there...
Yesterday evening, a friend told me about the kx project... I´m a fan of sound, and what he shows me, was nice..i want it too..so..i organisatet a sb live 5.1 and put into my system. I installed like the faq´s and so on told me, and..on front/rear i can hear (analog) musik. But, i really wanna have digital output.... What i did? i put a connector into the Digital out Jack, and the other side on my amplifier, a pioneer vsx 915... No comes my problem, no matter what i do...i cannot hear any sound, if i switch to digital... i cruised a lot through diffrent boards, and i didn´t found a really good answer.. i found out, that there seems to be diffrent digital outputs...how can i understand it? I never heared, that the digital line comes cuttet, into front/rear and LFE.... in my opinion, i have one digital kable, put from my soundcard to my amplifier, start winamp, and can hear music... was my thought;( what i did wrong? I set the kx mixer to digitally output...no sound.. is it possible, to get all 5.1 chans over ONE kable into my receiver? so that i can enjoy a dvd in 5.1? i know, this questions are very very noobi, but i gonna crazy, cause i don´t understand it....(I use play on/with computers since 20 years, but that i am this stupid...is my first time..;( I hope someone can give me a quick information...cause, isit not possible, to get 5.1 (how about 7.1?) over this card with one cable (i can select just 1 signal on my receiver, so i have to deciede between front/rear or center?) i put this card out, back on the place where she was for 4 years, and build my c-media in...(i don´t like this cheap card, but i have my dig. music...) shit, i feel this stupid... can anyone pls gimme a little tip? bye, frank |

AC3 passthru currently does not work with SB Live! models and kX.
I do not have a digital setup myself, so I am not exactly sure about the details, but I think your only choice for DVD playback, is to have either kX, or your DVD software decode the AC3 signal. |

now i´m able to hear my music (i love to hear conerts in 5.1) over the digital output... but, hmm...no digital, just left/right and lfe(sub)... on my mixer are all to switch, but if i adjust the loudness of center or Subwoofer, nothing happens.. is it impossible to look a dvd, and hear the sound on dd 5.1? hmm...seems to be...i switched on powerdvd menue to 8 speakers...no effect... will try more, cause, what i hear now, is great, the qualyty of the music is great... bbl, codo |

See the following thread in the Creative labs forum for an explanation of how it works with SB cards, but keep in mind that AC3 passthru does not currently work with kX for your card:

true digital SPDIF is only stereo, dolby digital and it's brethren are compressed audio streams fed over the stereo medium
you'll need to use the analogue connection for 5,1 sound
