I got some questions concerning my Audigy2 ZS, my live! and those two in cooperation.
So, to start with, the questions about the Audigy2 ZS: -Whats the thing about that 4th Analog output? where the heck is that connector? -Isn't there a "more stylish" way to get 2 Inputs working than tricking the ADC (the only setup I managed to get working)? -Could anyone tell me a proper use of all those FXBusses exept taking place and looking good? If there is anything they are good for i would love to use that feature as well ![]() Now those questions about cooperation: -Is there any possiblity of connecting those two without buying and fiddling cables into my already overfilled pc? (so i can route signals from one to the other) -if it isn't: how do i connect them? It already got through to me that I then have to wire from those connectors to those pins, where do i connect for best results and least risk of damage to my (and my pc's) hardware? -to what connector is that "auto mute when headphones connected" linked? The thing is that i want to use my live as "slave", just to host its inputs and outputs (and maybe some dsp), for connectin additional bass amp, and headphones (if that 4th audigy2ZS connector shows up at last this would probably not necessary). thanks in advance

the 4th analog connecter is actually part of the 2nd and 3rd connectors, to access it you need to use a 4 pole jack (camcorder cables are like this, 3 rca connectors on one end and a 4 pole 3.5mm jack)
the ADC trick is the only way for 4 mono (2 stereo) inputs in the audigy 2 series, unless you use lemury's profx pack (3537/3538h only) the fxbuses are the "inputs" into the DSP from the computer itself, ie wave, soundfonts, ASIO. these assignments can be modified from the kX router the only way to connect them, while allowing the use of the analogue outputs, is to use internal wiring the pinouts for the headers are available in the sticky resources announcement at the top of this forum the auto mute function is use when headphones are connected to either the 5.25" bay drive or the external breakout box, not the rear jacks i hope that helped

It did, except I don't know where to get that connector jack from =(
PS: The thing with the FXBusses ain't new to me, but where is the use of so many? I only had a live before i bought that aud2zs, and 16 FXBusses were enough, so what are the additional ones good for? PPS: to connect both cards i need those 2 wire cables?

most consumer electrical stores will stock them, just go to the counter and ask for a camcorder cable
yes you'll need the two wire cables EDIT: as for the fxbuses, it's all about customisation, each ASIO channel can have it's own assignment, useful for using the DSP as an effects loop, and each channel for each soundfont synth can have it's own assignment aswell, useful for putting different effects on the different instruments in a bank

if you have any other queries, both myself and several other regulars here have multicard setups

uhm.... another question, those spdif cables, are they mono? or can they transmit more than that because they're digital?

BTW: Those camcorder cables are not all the same, so you may want to check the pinouts before buying one.
i.e. I have one for a Sony, and the ground is on the 2nd ring instead of the sleeve (i.e. tip = audio left, 1st ring = video, 2nd ring = ground, sleeve = audio right). |

The I2S out - I dont know - Im thinking its to support either the A2 PlatinumEX - or those 'video editing' edition A2's I thought I seen somewhere..?? Quote:

With this setup - recording 2 mono/2 stereo simultaniously is easy. For more help, ask I ll give more detail. Quote:

It MUTES the other OUTPUTS when a headphone is plugged into the front panel of a PLATINUM IO Drivebay BOX. edit: - I also notice that 3538J this feature seem 'less reliable' than in 3538H Quote:
1) 2 additional midi ports 2) 1 additional analog stereo input to record from. - but compared to A2, its of lower quality. Not horrible, but to hear the contrast - its noticable. You could possibly add the 'return' from the A2 SPDIF out on the AD_EXT connector - to the Live AUD_EXT connector - for more of a send/return type of set up to gain additional DSP capability (like an outboard effects unit on a mixing console) with custom DSP config. Alright, here i am again...
I now got some kind of selfmade output jack (i didn't get anything useful in any store). So now: how do i get my live inputs through to my audigy2zs?? The first time i tried to connect those two i killed my live ='(, got me a new one now, but i do not want to kill it again, or even the audigy2 O.o. So where are the inps and outps i have to connect? (dual mono from live to audigy2, maybe a stereo from audigy to live, just because i got so many independant speakers )

use the AUD_EXT and AD_EXT connections to link the cards together via digital connection, much simpler
check this thread for the pinouts you need

Well, the last time i tried to connect them i had that pinout assignment in front of me (the thread you mentioned) and - as i said before - i killed the live!, so are there any specific pictures for the live pinout connector so i can see where the pins i need to connect are?

there is a pic there of the AD_EXT on the audigy 2 series, as for the live, pin count starts on the top left, goes right, then to below to the left, and so on
