Sounds from headphones bleeding into microphone recording

I recently got the Logitech X530's and I set it up properly and everything, but my friends told me when I talk on Ventrilo, they can hear my 'Key Click' (Push-to-talk feature) and they can also hear the things that I am hearing from my headphones. So if I am listening to a song on my headphones, they can slightly hear the song and I would like to know if there is a way to stop this from happening. If somebody has a preset DSP that would solve this problem or guide me in making one. Thanks
I found this

and I don't really understand it. Do I need to disconnect both AC97 LEFT and AC97 RIGHT from xrouting and what is "recl/r in the epilog"?

Maybe your DSP setup is messed up that an unwanted signal is also going to WinMM. Also I'm assumimg you have speakers off, you should, but if you have a very sensitive mic some sound can be still picked up by the mic. If you dont have your speakers off, expect that sound from them is being picked up by the mic, that's normal.

Try the DSP preset I uploaded called Stereo Gaming with Mic: http://my.kxproject.lugosoft.com/upl...ir=desc&page=2

the epilog has two points named "rec", one is left (l) and one is right (r)

and yes you need to disconnect both left and right channels

Also, check the sliders on the 'Recording' page of kxmixer, and make that any sources that you do not want recorded (and thus sent over Teamspeak) are muted.

BTW: Prolog really does not even need to be loaded at all for this.

I did all this stuff, and they can still hear the things I hear from my headphones. And when I try to load the Stereo Gaming Device, I can't even use my mic so I have to reset the device default.

Try the setup in the following post:

Pay close attention to which sliders are muted in the pictures.

The Stereo Gaming with Mic is a DSP preset.

It may be that you need to Open kX Mixer and go to Master page, then take the check mark out of Toggle 'Swap Front and Rear' mode.

The Mic volume is controlled with the MX6 In4 bottom slider (that slider is all the way up, so keep your speakers off til you open the MX6 and turn it down).

Do you know how to load DSP presets?

EDIT:

I unchecked the Toggle 'Swap Front and Rear' mode and reuploaded the preset. If you download it again, it should work for you.

Edit Done

@thomasabarnes,
A DSP preset is a good idea, but they do not seem to set all the necessary slider settings in kxmixer (and other kX settings... i.e. it does not select the MIC as the AC97 source).
I gave it a try and it seems that there is still a lot a setup in kxmixer that is necessary.

Is there a way to set up my X530 5.1 Speakers onto my Creative Soundblaster Live! 5.1 soundcard and plug my mic into my old onboard sound?

I changed the kX Mixer settings and reuploaded the preset, are you saying you have problems after I changed the kX Mixer settings? This was done with an Audigy, so that may make a difference if people with 10k1 cards try to use it.

I got a message from a user with an Audigy 2 ZS, and the new preset I got worked for that user (though I'm gona note this preset should be used with headphones, and 10k1 users may have problems with the preset).

Moreover, I wasnt sure if this preset would work with all driver versions from 3537-3538, or if it would work with all the various card models, so in the original description for this preset I used the expression "i think," and I advised to post in the kX forum if there was any problems.

Set ventrilo to use ONBOARD for INPUT and KX for OUTPUT.

This should work for you.

Yes, that should work for you, but you also should not be having problems with getting it working with kX, so I am thinking that maybe you are mis-understanding something, or the sound is just being picked up by the MIC.

@thomasabarnes,
I am not sure, maybe the card model has something to do with it, but looking at the text of the config file, there is no [mixer] or [ac97] sections.

Cant you select upon saving settings 'WHAT' is saved?

It would seem that mixer settings were NOT saved in that settings file ..??

edit:

Yes - I see those entries russ..

ALSO - thomas:

You may want to remove the 'SOUNDFONTS' saving in the config file - it UNLOADED my soundfonts because the path was wrong.

Also note: That only works in 3538I and NOT H w/ new profx update
(MX6 is untranslated and NOTHING except mic>gain>gain, is connected.)

well, I think I found out why I heard stuff from my headphones. My headphones aren't noise cancelling and when I installed set up my speakers and kX driver, the mic boost has increased and it now picks up the sounds I didn't pick up with my old speakers... weird. But yeah, it is just that my mic is picking up more than it should, but it should be okay, I just need to move the mic a little further away.

One more thing, how do I load preset DSP. I just right click on kX in the taskbar -> settings -> load settings right? When I try to load stuff like this, a lot of the volume things are gone and I don't have sound, so I am forced to reset default settings. Thanks for all the help!

To load a preset you can use 'Load Settings', or double click on the file.
Some presets are for specifc configurations, so they will not work for all purposes.
You should start by creating your own configs, and try re-loading them to see how it works.

right click on KX mixer tray icon - settings>load... navigate to file
Or just double click on settings file

@thomasbarnes,
Never mind, I was looking at the wrong config file.
You put a link to 2 different configs, and I did not realize this and grabbed the wrong one.

I noticed that soundfont setting was saved when I reuploaded the preset.
I have saved the preset without the soundfont saved and reuploaded.

@Russ

So Russ does the preset work now without having to do anything to the kX Mixer settings?

Yes, it does work.
For Teamspeak however, you do not want to hear yourself while talking, so I would mute the MIC slider on the AC97 page. Also, I do not think you should need to save the Hardware Parameters or Buffer settings.

In any case, I realize that it is more of a general MIC recording setup (for both ASIO or MME).

BTW: The ASIO connections that you use are not the best for Live 5.1 cards (ASIO1 and ASIO2 on epilog are not used with these cards).

LOL man

This preset stuff calls for attention to detail.

This is all good info, though. I will correct all you said Russ, and this has been a learning experience. It was with me by habit to just save everyting except automation in all my preset saving.

I will correct this stuff and reupload. I'm glad we went through this, I'm still learning nice things.

"For Teamspeak however, you do not want to hear yourself while talking, so I would mute the MIC slider on the AC97 page."

I kinda have a problem with my Mic connector on my sound card, so I need to hear me to make sure my Mic is working. I will, however, do as you say because others may not want to hear self.

On 2nd thought this is for newbees, so they need to hear their voice to know that the Mic is working, so what I'll do is mention to mute the Mic slider in the description for the preset.

"Also note: That only works in 3538I and NOT H w/ new profx update
(MX6 is untranslated and NOTHING except mic>gain>gain, is connected.)"

OK, noted Maddogg6. I still have in the description to post here if there are any problems, so users can do that if it's not working for them, and hopefully get some help.

Yeah, you generally want to leave out any card model specific stuff (unless you want it to be model specific), and stuff like Buffer settings is not necessary unless you are using more TRAM then usual or something like that. i.e. Only include what is absolutely necessary to use your config.

As for the hearing yourself thing, that is fine.

It seems mixer settings are saved in config file under 'HARDWARE' and 'AC97' - those are the check marks that correspond to the MIXER settings btw..
