SB Live! Audio [C000] 5.1
I'm currently using the DirectX Full Duplex drivers at 46ms witch is fine with me, everything on my system is perfectly stable with creative drivers, but I was wondering what should I expect from kx if I try it? Will my cpu be higher as the cost for lower latency? Also I got a question, when I minimize a sequencer like fl or cubase while playing music I hear no cracks or pops, and that's important for me, will this change with kx? Basicly what I'm askin' is, can I expect better or worst from kx drivers? I'm very strict about installing anything(i've lost my whole system before due to a fualty creative soundcard) I been looking at the forums and seems like Kx has alot of diffrent bugs? With my system does anyone recomend KX?
Windows XP service pack 1, SB Live! [C000] AthlonXP 2800+ 2.1Ghz 512mb ram ? |

I went to the kX drivers when I found out that I could hook 2 sound cards together to get more inputs for recording purposes, so I wasn't worried about the other stuff. I learned what I needed to as I went along. Talking to other people on the forums here, I found out kX was what I needed for my recording setup and have found that if I ran into problems, as long as I didn't start off a thread like a spoiled brat "kX Fu...d up my system and what are you losers going to do about it??!!!", people are more than willing to help out.
As far as installations, there are no guarantees. After maybe 12 to 15 different installations of different versions of kX on different puters and Operating systems, I have had a wide variety of outcomes. Sometimes the installation is simple and painless and sometimes something gets hosed up in virtual land and requires a few more hours of dinking around, but in the end it always worked and I have never had to reinstall the OS to fix things Personally I would never go back to the Creative drivers, kX is on 3 different computers at home now and after a long learning curve, (shorter for smarter people), I am pretty comfortable with kX and use probably a small fraction of the available features. Cracking and popping can occur and when it does, it usually requires a latency adjustment in the control panel. So in the end, I guess you have to ask yourself if the Creative drivers are doing everything you need right now. Personally I think that if you are into recording on the computer and have a compatible sound card that kX is the only way to go but I may be a little biased. I think version 3537 is a safer version unless you are into beta testing. |
