It sounds like it loaded an old config file after the first reboot (or old setting from the regsitry).
Try doing a Reset Global Settings, or better, do a completely clean installation:
Backup any kX stuff that you might want to save.
Uninstall using the kX installer (choose to remove everything).
Do not skip any reboot requests, unless told otherwise by the software.
Use DriverCleaner Pro to do additional cleanup.
To ensure it is all gone:
Delete any remaining kX directories under "Program Files" (i.e. kX Project or KX Audio Driver, etc).
Delete any remaining kX Start Menu entries.
Delete *.kxl and *.kxs in the Windows\System32 directory. (I would just search the Windows directory (including subdirectories) for *.kx;kx*, most, if not all the files you will find are related to kX... delete any that you are sure are related to kX).
Delete the kX registry keys if they still exist:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\kX
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\kX Project package

Then reinstall 3538j.

Not all the above is necessary, but it is not hard to do, and should ensure you get a clean installation.

Just a thought, but I think it would be better if the Master Volume was seperate from epilog (it's own plugin that is updated by kxmixer, with epilog just having Master Volume inputs, where you would connect the plugin to).

This would allow people to still use the multimedia volume keys on their keyboard to control volume when not using epilog (i.e. other plugins could be created with their own Master Volume inputs to do this, etc).

Was this a problem for you before? I use my Audigy2zx in a car-PC install and the fact that my MP3s won't resume from hibernate drives me CRAZY.

Like I said, I do not normally use hibernation (my system is on 24x7, most of the time), so no, it was never a problem for me.

I've installed new version of driver (3538j), all seems to work, but when I tried to modify Master volume my computer switched off When I turned computer on, Master volume works for while, but after few minuts same situation...

I'm using SBLive Value. I think it's some bug of new driver, because on 3537 works fine.

are you using AC3 passthrough, or trying to "encode" 6 channel sound into a stereo signal?

you need to use tril's plugin for that

I'm posting a picture showing kxmixer and directshow filters configurations I usually use to listen to music and watching movies in Dolby Digital through digital output of my sound card. In one case by using only ffdshow and in other case by using ffdshow and ac3 filter. In this picture "spdif 0" instead of "spdif 1" because from 3538 driver version that is not working.

http://62.211.68.12/chihnan/3538.jpg

If web-page won't open at first try, reload then and you'll see the picture.

The ffdshow filter shows its own toolbar icon when it is used, right click to open dialog.
The AC3 Filter puts its icon in control panel to access its dialog.

hi all,

I'm currently using these drivers on an Sb0090 Audigy1 card. My system is Winxp sp2 with all the latest updates.

My problem is a bsod when using the main volume control. As soon as I get this again, I'll write down the exact code number. Thing is, this doesn't happen all the time, So I can't really narrow down the reason it's doing this, nore what I was doing to cause it.

This only happens when using this version of the drivers, that I've noticed anyway.

I did have Creative Labs drivers installed at one time, but used the driver cleaner provided with this site to clean it all out. Also, I use blackbox as my shell, I really don't beleive this to be the cause, but I don't want to leave any stones unturned either.

Has anyone else recieved this type of problem or am I an isolated one?

Hi, I've experienced this also, i'm using a Sb0220 Live OEM, WinXP SP2, all updates, etc. I have never had the Creative drivers installed on this system so it can't be that and it never occurred with previous versions for me either. i have kx startup with --once and these BSODs in kx.sys occur when i'm accessing Windows' volume control.

anyways, i just joined up to post on this since the kX drivers have been a lifesaver on this entirely unsupported card of mine.

cheers,
osm

Onboard sound may be harmful sometimes. I suggest you to turn OFF those bolded devices (above). If you're using Dial connection leave Data Fax Modem ON --> then NIC adapter(s) are not needed and can be turned off.

Then reinstall 3538j.

Not all the above is necessary, but it is not hard to do, and should ensure you get a clean installation.
thanks mate, it works brilliant. it was the previous version of config file that was messing the thing up.

No - its been discussed in other threads that 3534 is still superior ASIO performance.

Thank you Maddogg6 for your reply.

Well, i was trying to register the KxAsio.dll of the old version to use with the new version. But hehe yeah it does not work. You can not simply unregister the GUID's { ID } and then use the old Asio.dll.

The reason is, the 'Old' or should i say the best performance Asio.dll only works with the old API.

The only new thing i do get with vesion 3538-J is the correct SPDIF output stream to my External NAD Digital Amp.

34 Does output AC3 PassT. Yeah it does, but my Amp does not show any activity. e.g. not saying Decoding Dolby 3/2 Etc.
It does this with THIS 3538-J version perfectly though!

So yeah i have to make a choice isnt it?

1> Go for perfect ASIO (Wich is VERY important in e.g. mt big EnergyXT projects)

Or

2> Go for low ASIO and have the AC3 PassT. work for My NAD T770 Digital Amp with AC3 Movies.

I cant have both i see now.

Hm, if i could find a manual for the ASIO used in KX 3538-J so i could get the same or almost the same performance of 43. That would be great, cause i have no idea what al the synchronisation modes mean in this ASIO UI.

Normally i have them on Default, but i realy get to many audio pops, cracks etc.

Btw, i love KX i realy do, i stll think my Audigy 2 have potensial. But yeah i do keep thinking of going to M-Audio one day.

1 Notice. Dear Creators of KX. Besides the above things i noticed one more thing with this new version (that i do not have with the old version) this is a pop, crack, sound stop while playing movies true Media Player outputet via SPDIF.

This happends so now and then whil wathing movies. I know KX is for Audio people etc, but it is wierd that new versions have this flaw or maybe bug?

I realy think my SPDIF out needs special Microcode or a special setting for my AMP to understand the Digital Data.

I think that Eugene told on a post somewhere that he uses the same Synchronisation Code in this ASIO Release as in the (old 34-j) one.
And that every Windows system needs a other setting correct?

Well now, could someone post a manual and explain how and why to use diff. Asio settings in Synchronisation? that would realy clear it up and maybe i could get the same ASIO performance as before maybe it is just a Synchro setting?

I tryed a lot of options but if i play more than 1 VSTI at the same time i get a lot of echo or sound breaks, shutter etc.

If we can not use the (old) DLL ans Kx.sys with the new API and UI (wich i do understand why) then maybe someone could tell me to OR wait for a better release or tell me do do some studies in the Synchro Options in ASIO UI of KX 3538-j

I had this problem too fairly often, but it was solved. I have Kaspersky Antivirus Personal Pro 5 installed, and 2-3 weeks ago there was released a new vesrion - one of it's bugfixes was something like "fixed BSODs in some cases of incorrect audioconfigurations". So I've updated my Kaspersky to this 5.0.527 vesrion, and problem with BSODs when moving Volume in the mixer never happens again So, if you have Kaspersky installed - update it to version 5.0.527. If Kaspersky is not installed and you have this BSODs, then I don't know...

So just for conversation sake, what kind of latency would I get using a Audigy 2 with KX drivers running in ASIO mode?

depending on yoursystem, and how much load you're putting through (stack of VSTi or just plain 2 track recording), possibly 5-20ms

That's not it. BSOD (caused by kx.sys) happend again 10 minutes ago, when I was changing the volume So, it seems that it's not caused by Kaspersky. But it's strange thing - there was no any BSODs between the time from installing this Kaspersky update till today - all was ok for 2 or 3 weeks period ! But today it happened again
