SB0400 confusion - SPDIF output somehow possible ?

I was trying to work out the forum threads dealing with SB0400 (Audigy Value) issues but I am still confused. Does any driver release (3538i, j) allows SPDIF output or is there any DSP configuration trick that it enables ?

I just tried this and unfortunately I really forgot if the SPDIF output worked or not. I hope I will be able to check again if it works for me (not really me)...
