ATI AIW is now compatible with KX
Hey guys..posted ahwile ago about the All in wonder cards not "seeing" a card running KX. the problem was that no matter what you did you would NOT get sound when using PVR functions or TV on Demand the card uses a seperate line_in cable but it didn't matter. Also within the driver it said NO SOUND meaning you had no sound card. Newer drivers 5.10 and above I think are using a different sheme but for whatever reason it is now KX compatible. The ATI no longer sends audio over the external cable as I have checked with a level meter. AS far as I can tell all audio out from the card goes right to wave 0/1. the ATI card has NO options for setting which output it uses etc... I just thought I would mention it because it was a real big issue for me. I don't think ati Solved it on purpose...just a fluk..

This is good to know. It's a shame I no longer use my AIW card. Since I bought a miniDV camera I don't need it for video capturing, so I stuck an nVidia in this box.
Still good to know though. It's just too bad it wasn't fixed a year ago.

Yes, well I posted it because before there was no solution to this issue so user of KX and ATI were stuck. MEaning if I used KX I had no PVR functions and thats one of the main reasons I bought the card. Any way guys for whatever reason ATI has fixed this issue although I don't think they did it on purpose...

I had just started a new thread and then saw your thread here about the same subject. Do you think this problem was corrected with the newer video drivers, WDM drivers, or a newer version of MMC? Well I'm over to the ATI site to download a newer version of there drivers, then I'll have to go through the install hell that ATI requires in installing there software, I have not installed new ATI drivers in 3 years because of that. Thanks for the tip ROBSCIX!

I downloaded the newest version of the WDM drivers and installed just them. For the A-I-W 8500DV it installed version 4.07 WDM drivers, if I had a newer A-I-W it would have installed the version 8.205 WDM drivers. The 4.07 drivers install alright but I had no luck with the audio problem. I will now download a version above 9.08 of MMC and see If I have any luck with that. It will take a while on dialup, thanks for posting the new info.

NO as I said You cleared up my information a bit...It's the MMC that fixes the Issue as the actual GFX driver will have nothing to do with this sound issue. Once I installed 9.08 it fixed the audio...It reconizes you have a sound card. lower versions did not..they would just say no sound...keep us posted.

Using the motherboards built in C-Media sound card I was finally able to capture audio using MMC. See my thread "Still no audio when capturing with MMC?" for more info.

I guess you could use a different soundcard if you want but I wanted to use my creative card because I use it heavily for music creation...I know play my guitar live through it..co everything I do musically is centered around that device. I was very dissapointed to say the least when I bought the AIW and it didn't see my sound card when using KX...nobody could help..as it wasn't a KX issue..it was a MMC from what I learned...so I waited and made due and as soon as 9.08 came out I was back in business..so that why I posted so guys in a similar situation could figure it out fast..

ROBSCIX: I have not given up on my Creative Audigy I EX Plat., I'm now using 2 soundcards, the Audigy and the C-Media soundcard chip on my motherboard. The Audigy with the kx drivers doing the main duties, and the C-Media just for MMC capturing audio. So far they seem to co-exist at the same time without any conflicts.

sound like a solution to a problem. you said you cannot install MMC 9.08? are you sure you can't? if you can then MMC will use your KX card aswell...just a thought..

I went to the ATI download page for MMC and it stated video cards I believe starting with the 9000 series and below could not use the current MMC 9.12 and should use 9.02.

Hello!
I have an Ati AIW 9600pro with MMC 9.13 installed, but it does not work with the kx drivers. It worked with the 8.6 Multimediacenter, using the onboard audio-connctors on both cards (the ATi and the soundblaster) but the result was very noisy. Also the TV-program did not really recognize the card, there was still no configuration option. After installing the MMC 9.13 Version it worked the same way for about 3 minutes, than the noisy sound changed to just noise and went off (but the soundblaster is still working with the kx driver outside the TV-program, hardware seems okay). Any suggestions? Thank you in advance Loon |

Not sure, I would say you have other issues. See any of the MMC's would send audio to the KX driver..but if you tried to record you would be out of luck...what version of KX are you using? I am watching TV right now and I have 3538j installed...
