Cannot install Drivers.
Hello.
I have gotten myself a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 from Creative, and want to install this drivers, which comes highly recommented, as Creative apperently have some problems with their own drivers. however, following the instuctions in the ReadMe's, and doing whatever I can to install them ... Windows will simply not recognize these as a Soundcard driver. When I go through the Device Manager, and use the "update driver" function, and point directly at the KX Project folder, where the drivre should be located, It returns with the answer, that it cannot install this hardware. Help? |

What is the specific model number of your card, and what version of kX are you trying to install?

3537 did not recognize that model. Use 3538j (see the '3538j Released' thread). You should also search the forums for issues related to that model.

(which were the only reason to I switched from creatives own drivers) Been looking around on the Forum and helpme's ... Cannot see/find any where with instuctions on how to actually enabling the mic. Hope you have a just as fast answer here?

Well it kind of depends on how you want to use it.
To enable it for recording: Go to the 'Recording' page of kxmixer and unmute the AC97 slider and set the volume to 0 dB. Go to the AC97 page of kxmixer and select MIC in the AC97 drop down box. The mic is now enabled for recording. Also on the AC97 page, you can enable the MIC boost option if you want, and/or increase the Recording Gain if it is still too quiet. |

Must admit I am loosing my faith in this :-\
Creatives delivers drivers that doesn't work properly when using a Mic in games (Making is sound very back went using teamspeak) and I tried the suggestions you made, reset options. Read instuctions and all ... Still no sound through the mic :-\ I did check the "normal" mixer settings in Windows, that the Mic is activated here. Shouldn't be a problem. I've noticed, than when I go to the mixer, and under recordings. and here connect the AC97 settings ... when I turn away from that page, and then move back ... it has been reset, so it's again disconnected, and I cannot find any "save" setting. Is it suppose to be like this? (Yea, I am newb in the sound-card driver world and such) |

Make sure you unmute the slider (AC97) on the Recording page (click on the little grey circle on the botton left). When unmuted, it should not say 'inF'. Most likley you are just adjusting the slider, but not unmuting it. Using this setup, you will not hear the MIC yourself (unless you do a loopback test), but your friends should be able to hear you.

No I did catch that little thing.
Unmuted it, and still no difference. Besides, TeamSpeak has a functions, that lets you know when it get imput from the Mic, and it registers absolutely nothing :-\ I tried muting/connection/sliding on pretty much everything now. Simply don't get it. |

BTW: Another setup I use is in the following post:
http://www.hardwareheaven.com/showpost...05&postcount=2 It includes some pictures, and descriptions of some of the sliders in kxmixer for reference. It is a better setup if you want to add any filtering to the MIC signal (i.e. you can add an EQ plugin or whatever between prolog and epilog), so you might want to give it a try, if you are unhappy with how the MIC sounds. |

What are you plugging the MIC into? The rear of the card, or some drive bay?

No problem. I hope it is not an issue with the card not being fully supported as I have no way of knowing.
Try the second setup I mentioned, including the peak plugin in the picture, and see if you can see the signal on the peak meter. |

BTW: Click on the Reset AC97 button on the AC97 page of kxmixer before selecting the mic (sometimes that fixes problems).

All tested and all tried.
Nothing worked :-s I'm amazed! I can hear the sound more clearly with this driver compared to the Creative one. but I can only have the mic working with the creative .. that blows :-s |

No signal on the peak meter?
It is definatley plugged into the MIC port and not something like MIC2, right? It may just be a compatibility issue, and there may be a workaround that I do not know about. There are some users in this forum with SB0400 models that may be able to give you more info, but you would have to wait for one of them to respond. Sorry, I could not be of more help

Well, hang in there... I searched the forum and saw reports that the MIC does work with SB0400 cards and kX, so another SB0400 user might be able to help.

BTW: You may want to start another thread (with a link to this one) that is specifically about the issue with the MIC.
I would also include SB0400 in the title of the thread, so that SB0400 users would be more likely to look. i.e. "MIC not working (SB0400)". |
