problems with mic

Hello !
I have some problems with my microphone...
My sblive is sb0220, i installed kxdrv3537-full.exe and configured with that solution: http://kb.kxproject.lugosoft.com/guide/setup-mic.html

When i'm speaking to my mic, my voice is very very quiet and i don't know how to make it louder..
plz help!

Did you try enabling the MIC Boost option? What are you using the MIC for (i.e. Teamspeak or similair?) ?

The reason I ask, is because that setup is not the best for VOIP applications like Teamspeak. For these types of applications you would not want to hear yourself talking, and as such you would want to leave the AC97 slider on the 'Ins out Outs' page muted, as well as the MIC slider on the AC97 page.
Then use the MIC Boost option, and the Recording Gain slider on the AC97 page of kxmixer to increase the volume (tested using Teamspeak's loopback test).

yes, i'm useing that mic for Teamspeak. If you can see, in that solution http://kb.kxproject.lugosoft.com/guide/setup-mic.html there is said, to Boost Mic, so i did it.
I don't want to hear myself but to be heard by others

I put all to max but i still have very quiet voice.. I'll try again to fix it, but if someone have some ideas, please put it here.

As Russ was mentioning - for VOIP - most people dont like hearing themself - thus - keep the ac97 slider MUTED on the KX INs & OUTS page of KX Mixer.

If youre using the Line In for your mic. A low signal is normal when using a mic on the Line In without a preamp. Change to Mic (if you dont have mic selected already) on the dropdown menu, and you shoud have a louder signal (and remember to change the connection to the mic connector on the sound card).

If it's still too low, insert a basic gain plug in between your mic and wherever it's connected. That should give you a louder signal.

I would guess that it is plugged into the correct jack, otherwise you would not hear anything when selecting MIC as the AC97 source, but it does sound like it may not be fully inserted into the jack (i.e. low volume and noisy), or maybe there is a problem with the plug. Make sure it is inserted all the way, and try another MIC if possible.

BTW: Regarding the card model. Open up kX's 'About' Window, click on the copy to clipboard button, and paste that info here.

I knew what you meant and it is a good point, I just meant that he indicated that he had selected the MIC as the AC97 source (i.e. following the instructions), and that the volume level was low. He would not have heard anything with MIC selected, if it was connected to Line In.

Is it possible the mic is wrong type - I thought Ive seen 2 or 3 pinned
Where a seperate power connection is used w/ 3 pin types and 2 pinned types sent condensor power like phantom power (but lower voltage)

@Anyone...
Will both types work - Mine is 3 pin and works well (quite sensitive - Labled as 'Quick Shot' - its a cheapo too)

OP: can you confirm your mic has 3 contacts on its plug - or is there 2.

I do not think it should make a difference if it is a stereo connector or a mono one, other than that with a mono one, you would only get input on one channel.

You must have mis-read my post... both mics were mono. extra pin is for V+ to power the mic element.

My current mic is 3 pin. I dont have a 2 pin one anymore.

Sorry, brain malfunction I guess. You are right the MIC jack is mono only and one of the pins is for MIC Bias. I was looking at the pinout of few different sound cards and it seems the the pin used is not always the same (the Creative ones looks as though it is pin3), so I guess that could add complications as well.

It was a while ago and I racked my brain trying to make it work before I just went out and got a new one... seems to me - it was the other way around - I had a 2 pin one and needed a 3 pin type. ?? it was a while ago tho.
