Still no audio when capturing with ATI MMC?
I know this has been talked about before, but can someone please explain the reason why you can’t record audio when you have the kX drivers installed, and you are capturing using a Ati A-I-W, and using the MMC TV application? I can capture video\audio using VideoStudio, but I can’t understand why MMC has the audio portion of it not available in the MMC Initialization Wizard. Daniel Drummond posted the following in a thread here 2 years ago:
"if you have connected the audio from the AIW into the AUX in the Audigy, choose AUX in the drop-down menu in the AC97 page of the mixer. Turn up AUX volume and make sure it's not muted. Go into the INS AND OUTS page of the mixer and increase AC97. Go into REC page of the mixer and increase AC97. If you have connected the AIW audio in LINE IN, use the same explanation, replacing AUX by LINE IN. Now you'll be able to hear and record TV audio, even if the audio wizard doesn't show up. You'll have to control TV volume from KX mixer and not from the volume control in MMC" But I’ve had no luck capturing the audio following his recommendations, is anyone else having any luck doing this. I can hear the TV sound but just can’t capture it. I’m using the kX drivers version 3538i on a WIN XP SP2 computer, with a ATI A-I-W 8500DV video card using MMC version 8.7, and my audio card is an Audigy I EX Platinum. I had no problems capturing audio with the Creative drivers. |

Thanks dj stick, your post got me thinking that I have a motherboard built in soundcard that I had disabled in the BIO's. So I enabled it and loaded its drivers, then pluged the line out from my DirecTivo into its line input. When I rebooted the MMC wizard came up and let me configure it to use the C-Media motherboard audio. I'm now able to capture audio and video with MMC. I don't hear the audio (but it records fine) unless I'm using TV-On-Demand, which I believe my Audigy sound card is decoding the wave audio in real time. The reason I can't hear the audio without using TV-On-Demand is because I do not have the C-Media audio output connected to my home theater system. I did a work around for that by connecting another line out from the DirecTivo to the Audigy's Aux 2 inputs, and now can hear audio using the Audigy and the kX mixer to control it.
