Bit-accurate (direct) SPDIF input possible for SB0090 ?
I was trying to use the bit-accurate SPDIF input with SB0090 but could not find the appropriate option in kx Mixer. I have a vague impression after some web search that it may be available in Audigy 2 but not in 1 ?
Also all the four kx Wave x/x devices are seen exclusively as output devices (offer only output and no input channels in Windows DirectSound) so I am not sure how I would capture the SPDIF input stream in my code ? Any experience with that on the Forum ? |

So it should work so just to diagnose my case - where shall I find the direct SPDIF controls in kXMixer - is it a dedicated button ? And I would expect some field to choose the sample rate. I have gone through the Direct Recording manual and studied all kxMixer screens and could not find it. What shall I check for ?

it's on the main mixer page, one of the options, allowing you to select which input to use, or to leave it off

Any prerequisites like Service Pack for Windows or sth else ? I am also a bit suspicious as the standard Creative apps also do not offer the bit-accurate option with my card (recognized as SB0092 by the way).
But even if I get it work the question remains can I receive the input stream using Wave x/x Windows devices ? I see them in DirectSound as having output channels only. Has someone tried/succedeed to receive and collect direct SPDIF stream for further processing outside the card (in Windows) ? |

I am starting to think that you need a Live!Drive or sth like that so that kXMixer or Audigy drivers enable SPDIF in at all. TravelRec, if I am right, then you had this digital connectivity bracket available when you were playing with Bit-accurate recording with SB0090, am I right ?

iirc travelrec built his own external device, but I myself have used the spdif inputs available to crosslink my cards
which spdif input are you trying to use? if you are recording from an external spdif device, use the CD_SPDIF input, as that is designed for the correct spdif voltage levels, these levels are too low for the inputs on the AUD_EXT header

Sorry for my mental weakness in solving this issue - yes, the direct SPDIF control IS on the main page - you choose there which input to use, as you correctly pointed me to. I think there are two reasons why I was confused - one: the input GUI control is not statically labelled - it only gets a label when you drag the pointer over it, the second - I was looking for a field to enter the bit rate as direct SPDIF does not attempt to detect it. But now I have found out finally that it set by the application not kX. And last but not least - there is a Wave 0/1 INPUT device so you can catch the bit stream in DirectSound for further processing what I joyfully did yesterday.
Thanks for all the help, without it I could have given up already. |
