"Spybot Search and Destroy" detects much more spyware than before and there are also some great additions that will be described shortly. You will need Spybot Search and Destroy version 1.3 or later for this guide. It can be found -here- We'll go through the install process first. 'Double-click' on the installation file that you downloaded. Choose your language.
Now click on "Next"
Click "I accept the agreement" and click "Next".
Choose your installation directory, (Default is best).
You can see options one might typically use below, put a check to change the skin or how Spybot appears and leave everything else unchecked. If English is not your primary language you can choose another.
Select you install directory, (default is best).
*The installation process is an important step. As you can tell, there are four options - all four are checked by default. You will want the first box checked to add an icon to you Desktop. Most importantly you'll want the bottom two checked, (they can be turned off later, but for this guide you'll want them checked).
Click "Next".
Click "Install".
Click "Finish" and you are done installing Spybot S&D.
