8ms responce time sounds damn good .. and the contrast is impressive!

If Samsung has improved their pixel over/under drive algorithms it should be awesome - as it should be for $1400.00!

The monitor is capable of displaying 1080p (1920x1080 - 16:9 aspect ratio), but there is not a built in setting for 1080 vertical lines, the settings in the monitor are 1024 or 1200 at the high end - the auto adjust circuitry will no doubt work with the video input at that rate and fit it to the screen (somehow...). The problem arises because this is a computer monitor, not a HDTV designed to handle input from a consumer High Definition source. HDTV's are designed to specifically and properly handle a 720p, 1080i, or 1080p digital broadcast signal - this monitor is not specifically designed to handle a 1080p signal natively - it'll have to do some "interpolating" of some sort. I do not yet know of any broadcast signal that is doing 1080p right now actually anyway. The ones I've noticed are either 720p or 1080i at this time. Also, it does not have the HDMI connector (also rumored to be a requirement for DRM - otherwise the resolution will be cut back to about DVD quality...) - the only inputs that will work with HD level video are the Component inputs or the DVI inputs - but the DRM/HDMI issue remains...

Zardon might have some first hand knowledge of this - or anyone with a widescreen LCD monitor like the Dell 24xx that is using the proper video input from a High Def video source such as professional or pro-sumer video camera, standalone HD Tuner, or cable/satellite receiver box.

Well i think i may scrap the 244T and just get in a 3007 Dell monitor...

but i'm going to wait a little while longer as i'm told there may be a little smaller monitor that has the same support..

I'm just curious to get true 1080p support...

Some people are asking me to set them up with a damn good monitor that they can plug there hdtv into and not have to worry about stretching or distortion.....

Sorry Judas - not a thing yet about the 30" Dell...

One nice touch, has built in circuitry to support HD video - but it is scaled of course.

Color temperature is right close to 6500K - great for video.

You simply cant beat the Dell 2405FPW at only $799. Its huge, got tons of inputs so even hooking up something like an Xbox is a breeze and it does true 1080i

I missed on the price - wasn't paying attention well - it's 2199 USD.

Edit: Wasn't paying attention to my own posts that is! The Samsung 244 is 1400 USD, the Dell 30" is 2199 USD.

although 1080i is nice.. i'm looking for 1080p... i've got 2 people baring down on me for it... and they don't want 1080i.... they want 1080p

they also want 30+ inches .. damn picky aren't they?

Hey man, did you see the review at Firingsquad of the Samsung 244 - basically liked it a lot for computer applications and gaming, but did not much care for it for video...

I'm still learning too about quality of scalers - no doubt the manufacturers are working on this.

i'll have to go check that out...

Although the 244T looks promissing spec wise... it stil find theres alot of widescreen displays that use a rather "odd" native resolution that i and most games let alone programs typically are familare with...

13xx imo isn't a pretty number to look at .... but i don't know.. im going to have to checking things out..

i'm really likeing the Acer AL1951.... very excellent monitor for the 4:3 aspect and decent responce and excellent resolution considering...
