"New" Computer dead :(

I just built a temporary pc for myself from parts I purchased off of a friend for $120 to get me by until I can afford to build me nice rig this summer when I work full time. For that money I got a biostar m7ncd motherboard, an athlon xp 2600+, a thermaltake volcano fan/heatsink for it, 512mb kingston xms pc2700 ddr and a radeon 9600 pro so it seemed like a decent deal. He never had problems with this stuff and wouldnt lie to me.

The computer was running fine for a week, no problems. My brother was playing farcry and all of a sudden it shut off and owuldnt turn on. We let it sit for a while and then it would turn on but reset itself constantly. Now it wlil stay running but I get no video except for four white squares on the screen but I know its not the video card because I replaced it with another video card and still got nothing.

Anyone have any ideas what could have happened and what the problem is?

Thanks

Not sure what happened, but i would try swapping parts out if possible. I'd try a different power supply first, then ram, then cpu if possible, and last, the motherboard if all else fails. Redo all connections inside, or at least go over and tighten them all. As for what caused it, that's tough...could be lots of possibilities.

btw big ROFL @ BWX

I tried swapping the powersupply out with no luck. I have nothing else I can try replacing unless my old duron 700 will work in this mobo or if this processor will work in my durons mobo. They are the same socket I believe but I have my doubts that would work.

Any suggestions?
