Upgrade question
Not sure if this is the right forum or not but....
My current PC motherboard is a intel D845GLLY (only has PCI bus) http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/ly/ The system isnt that old, I want to be able upgrade my motherboard to just a agp compatible motherboard so I can keep my excisting hardware ram, cpu and so on so it cuts down the price. Would I be able to do that with any of these motherboards?: ASUS P4B-MX PENTIUM 4 SOCKET 478 MOTHERBOARD AGP SDRAM http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....MEWA%3AIT&rd=1 Intel D865GVHZ Motherboard http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....MEWA%3AIT&rd=1 MSI PM8M-V M/B For INTEL 478 Pin http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....MEWA%3AIT&rd=1 I like the look of the MSI, cos it has a agpx8 slot. All my componets that I have in my intel D845GLLY should plug into these new mobo's alright shouldnt they? |

Look at the RAM alone...
Intel D845GLLY -- supports two 168-pin SDR SDRAM DIMM sockets, 3.3 V (only) 133 MHz DIMMs with gold-plated contacts, for up to 2 GB† system memory. ASUS P4B-MX -- supports 3 x 168-pin DIMM sockets, Max. 3GB PC133/PC100 unbuffered ECC/non-ECC SDRAM DIMMS. ============================== these 2 boards requires different type of RAM from the ones you have. Intel D865GVHZ -- supports two 184-pin DDR SDRAM DIMM sockets, DDR 400, DDR 333 and DDR 266, for up to 2 GB of system memory. MSI PM8M-V -- supports two 184-pin DDR DIMM, 2.5v DDR SDRAM, up to 2GB DDR333/400 SDRAM. |
