Flashing New Version of BIOS
Hey guys. I was going through my EVEREST program, which lists just about everything about your computer, when I noticed it said my BIOS was over 2 years old, and that my performance may be degraded. So it linked me to how to "Upgrade" my BIOS. It sent me to this esupport.com site where it seems a couple major BIOS manufactorers send people for BIOS upgrades instead of dealing with it themselves. So after running the sites provided program to discover the "needed information", i sent it off to their technicians for analysis, and to reply with how to upgrade my BIOS. I get a daily email from their technician saying his hours and that he will tell me what I need to do. Unfortunately, the company is located on the east coast, and their hours end at 5:00pm EST, and I live on the west coast, so thats 2:00pm here, and I am in school those hours. So, I could never contact him. A week later, I get an email regarding information on how to upgrade my BIOS, and it costs $29.95. What is this? I thought you could simply upgrade a BIOS by flashing it to the current version provided by your manufacturer.
Can anyone clarify this for me, and if its not too much trouble, point me in the right direction to upgrade my BIOS (if its free). my specs are in my signature. -thx civ

IMO, i personally wouldn't deal with a 3rd party bios company..
Can you find the EXACT name/model/brand on your motherboard for us? We'll be able to direct you, but there may be a good chance there is no more available updated bios.

Sorry i had missed your post previous. thanks for the pm...
This is what i could find directly related to what i beleive your system is.. http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWeb/Downloa...uID=35&LanID=0 NOW... the latest bios version appears to be what your using already.. So there you have it, your fully up to date and you can't update your bios anymore than it is (and i would SERIOUSLY recommend not touching as it's as up to date according to your motherboard manufacturer) Only way to update anything would require you to replace your motherboard for a more current one. But enless you are having issues of any kind or beyond that need something fixed that may be bios related.. you should be fine, and you shouldn't need a bios update. Good stuff
