My good friend Quinn over at EliteBastards just put up an excellent history of corporate blunders in the video industry that details 3dfx, ATI, & nVidia's big mistakes along a very well constructed timeline.
![]() I found it to be a fascinating and fun read that covers a lot of ground very well....I highly recomend it.

I'll pass on the kudos to Quinn, but just for clarification sakes I want to mention that I work for Quinn...he's me Bossman over there along with Zarathustra. Gotta love an office where drinking is encouraged, there's over-flowing ashtrays everywhere, and a lazy haze of smoke hovering near the ceiling. Me loves and is muchly honored being allowed to keep a desk over there! It's a bit like circus, except with computers and run by fun crazy people.

I have a question??
Near the bottom of the article he says that the 6 month delay and FX Flow device where out of nvidias control. And they only get a blunder point because the card barely outperforms the 9700 pro that was released earlier. How was the delay and Flow FX design out of nvidias control? I under stand TSMC had major problems fabbing the .13 design, but it was nvidia themselves who called for that spec. And nvidia also the ones who decided to clock the SHIT out of there card in order to raise the performance, thus making alot of heat, resulting in the Flow FX. I think nVidia should get 2 points atleast for that series of events. One, for a lack luster product that comes 6 months later than the previous high-end competition product and only margionaly out-performs it in certain areas. and Two, for the entire FX Flow design theory, and clocking the hell out of there cards to have them competition worthy. I mean, honestly.... come'on! Who the hell, even hardcore people, is gonna put up with 77 decibel noise comming from there case that sounds like Neo entering the Matrix?? They could get another one I think also for the price there attempting to charge people for this, in combination with noise, to slight performance increase ratio over the competitor at best. or You could touch on, thro recent development about the smudged settings the FX has with doing FSAA and AF, tho that could be related to driver issues, Ill give it that.
