Thumbs Up!

Congrats, Iiyama is almost always on top in every monitor comparison review.

What did make you choose a traditional CRT over a TFT?
Most likely the price I guess but was there some other factor?

Welcome to the world of insanely good CRTs man! Don't they make all the difference? I mean, I have one of the most wonderful Trinitron 19" monitors, .25mm apeture and all... it looks significantly better at all resolutions than almost any LCD's I've ever seen...

LCD's are only good if you want a fancy looking monitor or if your cramped on space.

Hmmmmm...do you mind if I ask how much it was? I haven't looked at monitors lately, but Blue's 5 year old 17" .27 VistaPoint (cheapy no-name) is starting to show signs of aging to me.....and I always could just paint it pink and hand it down to the daughter.

I betcha I could convince the wife to upgrade her monitor, I really do.

Personally, I would recommend looking around for used Trinitron P991's - thats what I have, and I've seen em as low as $150 or so at some resellers who help Dell unload stuff that just came back on lease, including these nice monitors...

It was www.merkortech.com - very good deals on used monitors and all... They list the Trinitron for $180, but if you mention Pricewatch they'll give you $10 off.. lots of other very very nice and good monitors there, and plenty of big ones too if that's what you're looking for Digi...

Congrats! I remember when I went from a CTX PL7+ (17" non flat .27) to the Samsung 955DF (19" dynaflat .22) that I have now. OMG... the differences are absolutly amazing. It was origianlly 320 dollars, but I got it on sale for 250 dollars.

I agree that TFT sucks, the pixels are huge, and the prices are INSANE!

Plasma is far better (best of both worlds - thin, and great picture) but they are even more insasnely priced!

Don't fully agree there Wyre, I find my laptop TFT easier on the eye than my 21" Trinitron.
This 21" monitor nearly takes up all my desk too! I need to keep the keyboard on the edge of the table...
A few weeks ago when I relocated and I had to carry this beast up to the 2nd floor I sweared that at the first chance I would sell it and get a light, small and fancy 17" TFT from Iiyama.
Just need the money that's all... ;-)

I used to own a Viewsonic VG191b 19" XVGA.

Very nice panel with no tearing or ghosting that I ever seen. It took me awhile to get used to using a CRT on this rig. however I wouldn't diss TFT's because when you get a quality one the clearity is very hard to beat.

Similar to my impression when I went from ADI MicroScan 4P+ to Samsung SM700NF (Diamondtron .25 I thinK) - the difference was amazing! Now I use 959NF, it is excellent too (running at 1152x864 at 100Hz).

I have a Dell M991 19" (18"vis) monitor, .26dpi. I got his thing completely free from Dell when I bought my old PC. It's running 1026 by 768 @ 100Hz.
