my microphone worked just fine yesterday. i left for a while and came back and tried to use it to talk online. the speakers work but the microphone doesnt pick up anything at all. i have done the volume control and all that. the only thing that i can see from all the forums i have read is, that under the speech in the control panel i dont have voice recognition. and under the master control under microphone there is no advanced tab... any help would be greatly appreciated!

I even went so far as to reset my computer to factory settings and the mic still wont work. i tried the headset on another pc and it works fine. also since i reset it, when i am trying to look at a website with pics on it, if i put my mouse over the pic, it says click to activate and use this control... I dunno

I have the click to activate the control also. I think I started getting that message when I disabled Windows Firewall so maybe that it?
As for the mic I really have no Idea. I went through 3 mic this year alone so far but thats because riding over them with my chair ripped the cords lol. |

and i have a set of jacks in the front of the tower and the back, and neither are working for the mic. but the jacks in the front are making the headset make a buzzing sound but not the back set

Well I myself don't know a lot. I have had USB and Audio Ports mics. To say the truth although i like usb mics, it isnt worth it to pay $50 dollars for it to break. I am buying port mics just because I got tired of losing money and for $25-$30 I can get a decent mic.
About the usb question - Not to sure. If it is audio card related then I am guessing that either mic won't work. It can't be audio related I think if you at least hear some sound. Did you make sure you plugged it in the right ports? |

Well since you said you did everything in Volume Control (I am assuming you open all the advanced properties also), then i really don't know lol. In past experiences though, i had cases where I had to use my Audio Card program because my mic was muted there.

Well with the cuts in the cord, on the 3 mics I had either I couldnt hear people, People couldnt hear me or it would create a VERY LARGE staticy noise when I spoke to someone. I don't really know much about hardware and stuff (still learning) but I am just trying to help you with the past problems I have had.

Your sound card is there. It can be built in already or it might be in the pci slot. Like I said, I personally don't know hardware so I don't know how to change audio card settings. All I do is boot up the creative program which cam ewith it. I ll send a picture of how my sound card is positioned in a second.

Well as much as I hate headsets, I love them. I just think they have a lot of problems and sometimes using them isn't user-friendly. Wish there was a program that would just do everything for you lol
