...my Plextor 12/10/32 SCSI cdrw finally died. Now I guess it's a good time to upgrade to a dvd burner. What's good? and what should I avoid?

i actually have the 3550 and love it. I also have a 3500 in my wifes system!

I've had the same LG dvd burner for the past two years, never had a single problem with it.

yup,I've had an LG for a good while now and it does the job nicely

don't buy a Sony.

I prefer a Benq 1640 over the NEC's for their lower noise ratio and official support for the book type setting. On the other hand I see that Samsung now has an inexpensive recorder for the SATA interface, wich might be nice to try in order to loose another IDE cable. Soon you won't miss SCSI I'm sure.
