Stop the "test" prints already!

Have had an HP Deskjet 5550 for some years. Always have found its insistence on printing a "test" page each time I switch cartridges from black ink to photo and back again to be VERY anoying, both time-consuming and wasteful.

Over the years I've poked around a little on HP's site and elsewhere on line without learning how to turn this "feature" off. Today I'm motivated to ask: hasn't someone produced a modified driver that ends this insanity?

Hope I'm posting on the correct forum, and thanks.

well i've owned a HP Deskjet 310, (currently) a HP PSC 1210 and (currently and used most) a HP Officejet 4255 all-in-one and i have this issue you are having.

I personally like this feature and would never want to get rid of it so i know if the cartridges have been inserted correctly and they are not faulty cartridges.

I don't think this feature can be turned off and i haven't heard of any drivers which can get round this myself. If you think it's wasteful then don't insert any paper when changing the cartridge and then when it asks you to insert paper just cancel the print!

they auto align, auto check, the works to guarantee a flawless print job if possible (course it doesn't ALWAYS work.. but it help 99% of the time probably)

in any case, you not wasteing ALL the much, the printer uses a very minimal amount of ink per test page. (Super Eco mode).
