Celeron vs P4

hello
i currently have a pentium 4@2.0, 512 ram

and i was wondering how does a Celeron D 3.06 match up with that???

I think that the Celeron would be the best performer without any doubt

The celly D would preform better than what you currently have. Both the celly D and the P4's use the same core, but the cellys just have reduced cache and slower FSB. So a P4 at 3Ghz would be faster than a celly D at 3Ghz. but, since you have a P4 at 2Ghz and are looking at a celly D at 3Ghz the celly would be better. however, it may not be as large of a performance increase as you are thinking
