From P4 2.53 ghz to AMD Athlon 3200+ ???

Ok. I have a chance to get an Athlon 64 3200+ with a Asus K8V SE VIA K8T800 motherboard for $136 all new (Retail value is over $300). Right now I have a P4 2.53 ghz and a P4S533 motherboard that only runs my 9800 Pro at 4X when the card can run at 8X.

Questions:
1) How much of a difference is my P4 compared to the 3200?
2) How much of a difference will I see from running my 9800 Pro from 4X to 8X?

[color=black]oh..and is the 939 socket 3200+ better than the 754 3200+. because the 754 runs at 2.2ghz and the 939 runs at 2.0ghz

1. There will be a nice increase, especially in gaming...plus that cpu scales a lot better to newer hardware, so for instance, if you got a new video card, you'd see a much larger performance increase over what you'd experience with the p4.

2. not much, maybe 1-3% increase max.

As for the 939 vs 754 chip, the 939 runs cooler (lower voltage and smaller fabrication) and should overclock higher. Also from what I remember the 939 has a higher ht bus (2000mhz vs 1600mhz).

K8T800 is no good for overclocking. It's just fine for running stock.

If you were in my position, what kind of agp card would you replace the 9800 pro with?
