problem with PNY model 4200 Cards!

yup,

ok so I got pissed, I didnt want to send this daMN card back to PNY just to have it come back again NOT WORKING!

So I decided that I would either fix it myself, or kill it trying.

soooooooo, I tinkerd with the damb thing for an hour.... I sat with a magnifier-glassier and searched the damn thing up and down. I came across a "GUM" looking substance that waS sitting under one of the trans-heat coils. there are two coils on this model of card (from pny)... I took a closer look and It looked like PNY had put some of this grease stuff on top of a open board trace that can (and did) come in contact with the heat coil. Now to my knowledge, you cant have things shorting out on your v-card... and expect them to work.... so .... I took a toothpick, "un-guncked) my card, then bent the coil up slightly. right away I saw that the coil had heated up and melted with through the "gum" stuff, and was making conntact with the board trace. At this point Im praying to the heavens (Driver heaven to be correct), that this would solve my problem, But to be sure I bent the other coil up as well. so then I poped in my card..... screwed it in.... then plugged up some monitors. To my wonderful surprize I flipped the switch and my card came alive again! It has been running strong, and I have seen the proformance in games that I wasnt able to see even with my other 4200. (I think it was "gimped" from the begining) ,..

So I thought I would put this out there, and just incase someone else is having this problem, With any card.... check this out and take a close look at your board. (REAL close) I would also like to know if this is just a PNY design problem, or if this is a general 4200 prob....'

YEAH, mine works fine. We have already decided that it the card is problematic on yout motherard.....now didn't we
