Canon's New FAXPHONE L75
Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc. (NYSE CAJ) and a pioneer in laser facsimile technology, today introduces a new high-quality desktop laser fax device that also prints.
Designed for small businesses or home offices whose space and budgets are often tight, the new FAXPHONE L75 offers outstanding facsimile features, laser printing, a compact desktop design and economical price, making it the ideal office companion. The Canon FAXPHONE L75 will be available through national retailers in March at an estimated street price of $249. "While e-mail usage continues to grow, we know from market research that almost every small business relies on fax transmissions, " said Hiroaki Yokoyama, director and assistant general manager of marketing for Canon U.S.A.'s SoHo Products Division. "Fax technology is reliable, easy-to-use and doesn't require a large initial investment. Our new FAXPHONE L75 combines great laser quality output and full fax functionality at a very competitive price. We're expecting customers will find this product a welcome addition to devices already on the market." At the heart of Canon's new FAXPHONE L75 is Super G3 Fax Technology(a) that enables 33.6 Kbps transmission in as few as three seconds per page+ to save transmission time and money. Canon's exclusive UHQ VI Image Processing Technology transmits images with 64 shades of gray for outstanding text and photo image quality. The FAXPHONE L75 also comes equipped with a 4 MB, 256-page memory+, 124 speed dials, group dialing, delayed transmission and broadcast capabilities -- productivity enhancing features which facilitate both the transmission and receipt of lengthy faxes. Adding to the FAXPHONE's versatility is its ability to print crisp, clear letter-size pages at up to 6 pages-per-minute at 600 dpi resolution. The L75 also functions as a convenience copier, producing 6 letter-size copies-per-minute at the same 600 dpi resolution. Driving the FAXPHONE is Canon's FX3 Single Cartridge System, which contains the drum, development unit and toner in one easily replaceable cartridge. The FX3 cartridge ships with the FAXPHONE L75 and yields approximately 2,700 black-and-white letter-size pages, at 5% density. A 30-sheet automatic document feeder can accept originals up to legal size for smoother, easier handling, and the FAXPHONE includes a telephone handset so the device can function as an extra telephone. The FAXPHONE L75 includes a USB interface and is compatible with Windows 98/Me/2000 and XP operating systems. As with most of Canon's other Small Office/Home Office products, the FAXPHONE L75 includes Canon's patented RAPID Fusing System, which provides instant warm-up and eliminates waiting time. The FAXPHONE L75 meets the ENERGY STAR guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Canon U.S.A., Inc. delivers consumer, business-to-business, and industrial imaging solutions. In 2001, the Company was listed as one of Fortune's Most Admired Companies in America, and was ranked no.41 on the BusinessWeek list of "Top 100 Brands." Its parent company Canon Inc. (NYSE:CAJ) is a top patent-holder of technology, ranking third overall in the U.S. in 2001, with global revenues of $22 billion. Canon U.S.A. employs approximately 11,000 people at over 30 locations.
