Hello to all download manager freaks,
two weeks ago I've tested all known download managers: Download Accelerator Plus, FlashGet, Getright, Go!Zilla, LeechGet, NetAnts and ReGet Deluxe. Ages ago I was a lucky Go!Zilla 3.52 user and I loved it. When the work was cancelled I searched a new manager and I used Getright until the test... My current favourite is LeechGet, because it is the download manager with the best integration (it takes all downloads of the Internet Explorer) and it's the only manager, which can deal with all PHP-Downloads (e.g. Getright can handle only quite all PHP-downloads even if you type the url in). I've also heard that lower LeechGet versions had a lot of errors (e.g. was an error, that deleted quite the whole registry of Windows 98 ), but I found only one in the newest version (RC3 #1450): With the simple "Save-As" dialog the filename isn't always correct - so I haven't enabled this option in the additional options menu. LeechGet is freeware and supports multilanguage too.I would all people recommend to test LeechGet, but I can only talk for myself. |

I use FlashGet, no particular reason, it works..........I only use it for those pesky downloads that keep stopping on me. I haven't needed it in a long time.

Used Dowload expert - www.yanew.com - for a long time - until a bad update put me off it - originally, it didn't integrate - and it was the addition of integration that broke it - current one is actually ok.
It handles redirects better than some others. Now using the VERY simple Metaproducts Download Express - www.metaproducts.com 4 presets for threads and speed limit. Performance/completion is excellent - and as the download is renamed until complete, no mistaking partials for complete. Can also easily chop speed or pause, if you want another task to have more throughput. Weaknesses: - poor at redirects, and has a habit of grabbing "counter.exe" on webpages. GoZilla - UGH! - the free one is spyware, and it also screws up FAR too often! Might give that other freeware a go though! |
