I got Rogers Lite! I know I'm not to expect 200 Kb/S downloads or uploads, but I'm not even surpassing 20 Kb/S. What's the deal? I'm splitting connection with a Linksys EtherFast Cable/DSL router. I don't know what else to add. But I'd like to get down to the bottom of this slow down. I know it could be ISP, but some tweaking or configuration problems might be the possible cause of this. Speedguide.net and other sites weren't so helpful, but I'd like to see any tweaks or configurations anybody has. Gaming online seems fine, browsing is so slow tho! And not to mention downloading
Uploading is a crawl as well. Thanks in Advance. P.S - Don't even bother trying to get me to call Rogers' Help. I've tried before and they didn't do anything.

Question.
What are you using to gauge/test your speed?

Well, just a little while ago..
Last night to be exact, I was trying just trying to ping various sites, like rage3d.com and yahoo. Some had packet losses up to 100%! http://www.dslreports.com/speedtests...com/1044967013 That is the link to my speed test, with an download going at 10 KB/s (I just couldn't cancel the upload, but wanted to give some idea of what my connection is like now, I'll run another test later and post it up)

I would suggest you try afew sites to get a better reading. Like www.mybandwidthplace.com, www.pcpitstop.com and I think www.toast.com. Also complaining to your ISP (constatly) can pull off miracles

Second that! I had a "problem on my end" mysteriously clear up after only 2-1/2 days of constantly badgering me provider's tech support desk. ("But sir, if your line connection is fine we can't help you!", "My connection is just spiffy, it's just your servers are down and my connection has nothing to talk to!", "Sir, we're going to have to go thru a few basic trouble-shooting tasks before we can check the status of our servers for you...99.9% of the time it's a problem on the users end....first let's start by re-installing Windows....." )Be a pain-in-the-ass! Be persistant! But ALWAYS remember to be curteous and polite to the people you're dealing with, because tech support people don't really give a hoot if'n you're mad or not except for their own amusement. (Where do you think I picked it up from? )

Complaining is the only way?
I didn't want to resort to that yet... Any other ideas? 124 Kilobits per second was what Mybandwidthplace.com told me.
My advertised download is 128 Kbps so, I guess that's ok now. But is the effects of the worm incident a few weeks ago still around?

Singal probems are usally the cable in the wall being rg59 cable but for a digital signal you need rg6 cable (it says alog the side of the cable). Rg6 is much thicker (less resistance more signal) and needed for good digital connections. I ended running new cable at my place... let me know how the docsis readings go... or better yet email me back some screen shots and I'll help you figure out whats up...
by the way what OS are you useing? useing 10baseT connection or usb? stuff like that..... |

For the rogers lite caps your speed is good and you cannot get more speed by tweaking connection
I`m on rogers so called "hi speed" and getting around 1200/184 Rogers sucks nowdays and if you vanna more speed your only choice is 3000/640 dsl.
