System crashes

I don't know if anyone can help me with this ( a friend recommended the site)

I'm a casual gamer who is having problems with my system crashing when I play games. Sometimes after a few mintues, sometimes up to about half an hour. The games just freeze and the sound goes into a loop. I thought the problem was overheating and I bought a thunderbird fan to replace my old one but I'm still having the problem. Any ideas?

My system has (dont laugh) an Athlon 1700, 256mb Ram, Geforce 2 and is running windows 98.

How is the case cooling? This "thunderbird fan" you are talking about sounds like a CPU fan, which wouldn't help if your GPU is overheating, which might be the case since its the GPU thats stressed during gaming...

I had a similar problem back when i had some very crappy cooling. What kind of heatsink and fan are you using?

Also, if you want to improve the temperatures of your system overall, I recommend you get another case fan.
