Sudden RAM Failure

Windows just went to hell in a handbasket, BAD_POOL_HEADER, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA BSOD errors, then I ran Memtest and got 100k errors in a short time.

The comp has been running perfectly for months, now all the sudden? Has anybody seen sudden and abrupt RAM failure like this before?

I replaced the RAM with two OCZ 512 sticks and the comp seems fine now, although the ones i removed were 1 GB sticks. Could it be the MB suddenly unable to address the second gig?

Baffled,

rasta

When my Kingston went bad last year, it did it suddenly, too. I don't think it can do it slowly....as it's FAST RAM.

I had a 512meg stick of OCZ RAM die on me suddenly (one of the sticks listed in my sig). It did that months ago, but I've been too lazy to send it off to OCZ and take advantage of their "lifetime" replacement warranty.

I guess I should get moving on that soon.....

the module is just damaged or faulty, thing like this can happen.
if you've already tried reseating the modules and still getting errors in memtest, try another memtest software program just to make sure... after that it's time to claim a warranty for it.
