Sad Major problems with Vega TV

This is really starting to piss me off, so any help will be appreciated beyond belief. Having said that my problem is that I cannot hook up more than one composite, coax or component wire to my TV at the same time because I get vertical "noise" lines. What I mean by that is 1/4" inch lines moving across my screen. It does appear to be fine if I only have one hooked up at a time; like only the dvd player or just a PS2. If I hook up my dvd, PS2, PC and satelite all at once or any two at a time I get this problem. This TV cost way over 1k and it should not be doing this. Does anyone have any freakin ideas as to why this is happening? I have had the TV for 6 months but have never tried to hook more than one thing on it before, so I never noticed this. Is my TV busted or what? Thanks a million for any help; god knows I need it. The TV is a 32" Sony Vega.

PS. As I was trying to figure this out I sliped and went full force into the stand with my face and I'm bleeding all over the place; so you get an idea of how my day has been going with this so far. I feel like putting my freakin foot right through the screen..no joke there at all.

Question.

Do you have any open cable jacks on either of the cables you're trying to hook up to your tv? The interference you're talking about sounds a bit like it might be caused by an 'opening on the loop' so to speak...all the ends gotta terminate on somewhere or else you might pick up interference. (Especially if'n you have a sensitive TV tuner. ) I don't know if it'll help, but you said you were desperate.

Yeah, everything is hooked up nice and tight; there are no wires that go nowhere. I did manage to find a way around my problem though; I hooked everything up to my stereo receiver and then just ran a single composite wire to the TV. It sucks because I cannot use Component or Svideo hook ups, but atleast I don't have the super aggrevating noise. Thx for the reply, it was appreciated. I still can't believe I almost broke my nose though...it freakin kills

WBurke is on a distinguished road

Hi, Kakarot
Do you have all your equipment connected to the same voltage supply, ie. a 4/6 way adapter.
If not then it could cause interference lines on your tv . I read this handy tip on some other forum and it cleared up the problem I was having with my Philips tv

This sounds like a genuine problem with the TV and should be covered under the warrantee. I have a vega and have coaxe, rca and the 3 colour component lines hooked up with no problems. Haven't tried the s-video yet. I would recommend calling a Sony repair shop and have them come out and fix it.

hehe, thx for the medicine tips guys. I wish I had afew Vitamins V and P but I ended up with only Aleve It's alot better this morning although it still kills to the touch-no pickin my nose for afew days
Anyways I think it's the TV, although I do have everything running off one surge protector-a very cheap one at that-but I will get another and see if I can split all the plugs between the two. The warranty is only 90 days so I think I'm out of muck. Thx again guys

Hmmmm

Visible horizontal scan lines isnt really a good thing.

Worst case scenario is that one or more capacitors are ready to depart from this unkind world..
Or it could be a noisy power supply.

My first suggestion is to get it looked at if its still under warranty.

But in any case look at your PM where i sent you some more info...

I fixed it guys! I moved the TV along with everything else to the other side of my room and split the cords between two surge protectors and there ain't a single line to be seen. My room don't look as good as before, but what the heck, I see no more scan lines. Thx very much to all of you for your help and excellent tips; you guys rock!
