cooming out july 27 (or 24 luckely) it will be the best cpu on the market. take the AMD FX-62 for instance, about $1400 canadian. the intel CORE duo 2.66GHZ model will beat the FX-62 in every single situation (including gaming) by AT LEAST 10%, at the very good price of $550 canadian. the CORE extreme, (2.92GHZ) is about $1,100 canadian, and will beat the FX-62 in every instance by, again, AT LEAST 120%. thats right, more then TWICE the performance of the FX-62, $300 cheaper. i dont know much about the actual proc itself, but i do know that no mobo is on the market right now that will be compatible. dont listen to anyone if they say a certain socket will work, none will. THIS IS CONFERMED BY INTEL! intel will be relesing a new line of mobos along wiht the CORE procs, including SLI mobos.

hope that helped!

JOSH!

the new line of Intel chipset motherboards has already been released by some of third-party motherboard makers...
there are some of the motherboards that are supporting the Intel Core 2 Duo (and some of them are also for the Extreme ones) are on the market right now. they are just not available in all areas yet. but if you insist to wait at after the Core 2's processors have already been released just to be sure is not a bad idea at all, imo.
