Can't find a shop in the UK that'll gurantee me delivery atm, and still loking at mobo's and trying to figure out what to do with my 2 X800 's (both agp of course, one XTAiW), but I'm hoping to raise the funds to get a 2.4G and a nice OC friendly MOBO real soon
![]() might be screwed if I can't find a gf card I like that I can actually afford though

For gaming it will be pointless without top top top of the line GFX card, mainly a crossfire or SLI combining the 2 top card of either ATI or Nvidia. Otherwise it's a waste..
Still worthy for all the other CPU intensive tasks you do on a PC though of course.

Can't afford the cost of a new system what with a broken air conditioner and a heatwave... argh... but if I was gonna build a new system I'd use probably an E6600 for it

TD E6700 OEM on back order.
However, if it doesn't ship soon I'm going /w another vendor. $599.99 for an OEM processor is steep if you have to wait like everyone else. It's going in my sig. |

Earlier today I e-mail them asking about any update on shipping.
Here is what I get in return. Quote:
However, I was told when I ordered the processor (07/27) a shipment would be arriving the next day. No updates, no response nothing. Under these circumstances would what you do? 1. Order the retail version some where else for cheaper. Some who is also guaranteeing shipment by next week if you get in under the order they requested. 2. Pay more for an OEM processor where not only you but many other people have been "promised" about shipments arriving. Yet nothing has arrived or shipped but for only a handful of people. Of course giving the vendor some time, I choose option 1. So I cancel my order for the processor. A bit of background you should know. When you order an OEM processor through TD you have to purchase a heatsink with it. If you don't they will not honor any warranty. I'm copying this next bit from my post on Anandtech. I cancelled my order just a few minutes ago. Guy wasn't very nice on the phone. They still have a big whopping charge on my card which better come off damn soon. Update: Get this I ordered a heatsink /w the processor because of their little clause. Thinking I would get back some of the packing/handling fee because of canceling. Guess what? Nope. I pay 24.99 for the heatsink, and 19.99 for P/H!!! |

the CPU = Intel C2D E6300.
[URL= CPU performance and memory bandwidth looks pretty decent on papers (SiSoftware Sandra's, Everest's benchmarks) [URL= [URL= [URL= this CPU runs very cool with the stock Intel fan-heatsink, the CPU fan is also run very quiet, since it runs at low speed like 500-1000 RPM at most of the time. i've to drop the fan low limit warning down to 400 RPM, i'll keep the warning on for a while yet, then i normally disable it. [URL= after about 36 hours of running time... [URL= have checked the CPU core temps with a few different software programs, Core Temp, Everest and Intel TAT (Intel thermal analysis tool, this tool is made for checking notebook computer processors temps, but it seems to be also working with this C2D for desktop computers). [URL= [URL= [URL= the motherboard = Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4. acording to Intel chipset ID... this board is using Intel G965 (instead of P965) chipset, however, at this time, i'm not sure whether this info is correct or not. [URL= CPU-Z shows this board with a "Rev. C1" on it. again i'm not sure whether this has something to do with the above Intel NB chipset... [URL= this all just happens on last sunday my kid was building the first computer for his own 10th birthday's with his cousin (16) who's helping him, they went out to buy some new computer parts together. i told them to go to my computer part store to pick up a Pentium D 945 (presler) since i called to check with store owner for the stepping D0 of the CPU's which just arrive at the store, i also told them to buy a new video card at the store... i was thinking to build a new computer for my kid, i've all of the computer parts that i can build this new computer... Intel LGA775 motherboard that won't support C2D CPU, RAM, CD/DVD drives, PSU and all... i have them when i saw they are on discounted and i bought them so i can use them at anytimes..., i still need a better CPU and video card... so that he can have something similar to his friend in which his preferred to have it before... i however also think i like to try the C2D CPU (as well as the presler D 945) but it's just not this so soon... anyway, my kid had to call me back for my approve on the buying... and so that i got to pick a motherboard to support this CPU for him and all... This is my first Intel setup since the mighty P3 933MHz and I have to say it is one of the best and most satisfying upgrades I've made in a long time. Even at stock 2.4GHz the smoothness and speed is very noticeable over my 2.6GHz 4400+. My board doesn't seem to the best for OCing but I'm quite pleased with the result considering the lack of OC options like cpu vcore adjustments. This is as stable as she will go on stock volts but is rock solid dual primin. I also plan on upgrading the Zalman 7700cu with something better soon so hopefully 3.3GHz is within reach.

I have 48 hours stable with f@h now @ 3150MHz, 450FSB. I could take it slightly higher 460'ish until my board starts getting less stable. Still not bad for a sub $200 canadian cpu.

Well, my motherboard is holding me back, only allowing 333FSB. But I dont care, my memory runs at 1:1 at there. DDR2-667.

The Asus boards are looking good for the Core 2's - external SATA, coax digital audio out, ADI onboard audio, firewire port, high quality caps in the regulation stage - little things that add up - in addition to being one of the best overclocking boards... Next year for me - finally...

If I were buying today, I'd probably get an E6300 or E6400 and overclock it with a decent midpriced board - pinching pennies... I've started a new thread Here for discussion of the boards themselves and hope that the topic about the motherboards can continue there...
