Upgrade advice

Hi ive finally decided within the next month I am going to upgrade at last lol.

My current rig is

p4 2.4 (celeron, i know its amazing lol)
ga8siml mainboard 4x only
2 gig pc2700 ram
audigy 2zs
ati x800xl 256 aiw agp
2x80 gig ata hardrives 7200, 133

Ok Im mainly looking at getting a new cpu and motherboard which will be able to hold both my current ram and ata hardrives as I cannot afford ram upgrade as of yet.

As for my card goes I would like to keep it until I can afford a new card but i was looking at pci express 1800xt which is fairly cheap now, but im wondering if their is a board which has both 8x agp and pciexpress.

Im not fussed what brand I go for I just want a decent enough cpu

my budget is £200-£300

ok, here is the bad news for you. If you want PCI-E board and stick to your ram you must get S939 board. With uli's chip like : http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=291356
But I recomend to same more money to get DDR2 ram... Why? New core duo from intel and AM2 platform from AMD....

i would suggest u hold off ur upgrade until u can buy ddr2 ram.Cause u can make an upgrade that'll leave u with a lot more options later.
