Spyware or Keylogger
Today I was adding a new dialup connection an seen that i had a dialup connection called "Mainpean Highspeed" I did a search on the internet and found out some info on this being a spyware program or a keylogger program that sends in result thru email. Most of the sites were in German or Russian so i had a hard time making out anything. I also did a registry search for Mainpean and found a key and deleted it. If any of you guys know about this please respond becuase i pay most of my bills online and if it is a keylogger program Im going to have all my credit cards replaced and my debit card. I also ran Adaware 6.0 but it did not find anything neither did bullguard Anitvirus.
Thanks Ed |

Dunno.....maybe try Spybot Search & Destroy. You can find it at www.download.com, just do a search for "spybot" when the page comes up. Maybe that proggie will knock it out of the system.

Quick question, is there such a thing as a cookie manager? Or something down the lines where you can keep the cookies you want... but it gets rid of all unwanted cookies?
Edit: Ha, NM, went to download.com

Well... browsed through download.com real quick... I don't think I found exactly what I'm looking for, or perhaps I missed it. What I'd like is a program where I can say "hey, all the cookies from here, here, and here, keep. All the rest get rid of no matter what." Or something down the line like that. So like it will keep my forums passwords and such so I don't have to keep relogging in. But I do hate all the other 100's of cookies from like dell, ebay, and such that has no reason to be therre. Actually, other than a few forums and tvguide.com, I have no use for any other cookies.

With Nortons System Works pro you can clean up the cookies you don't want and save the ones you do as well as edit your history.I found out even with setting my historys to zero days and in the advanced internet properties tab checking empty temporary internet file when browser closes, Windows was leaving stuff behind and showed me historys from 2 weeks previous. I bought my copy online for 29.99, 36 with shipping. Thought it was a good deal since Ghost alone is 40-60 bucks depending on where you look.

Go here for spybot:
http://spybot.safer-networking.de/ as you can see on the right hand side of the page, it detects Mainpean, which it lists as a 'dialer'. Pest Patrol also lists this as a dialer on this page: http://www.safersite.com/PestInfo/db/s/stardialer.asp but titles it 'stardialer', the author being 'Mainpean GmbH' Bottom line, get rid of it.... fast. |
