I was looking at that a few weeks ago myself, I think she's going to have to wait a bit for it.

dammit asus DO SOMETHING!!!
i got the mvp deluxe but its only 939..i just didnt bother grabbing am2/ddr2 stuff yet.. i wouldnt mind dabbing into my wallet for any either ehehe..but i guess if shes going all out from scratch then, grab the newer stuff! i DID find a board that was am2 and crossfire BUT its from ECS..the reviews for it were very good..but the board is very basic it said= forget overclocking. now i dont think she cares about it so it seems like the best bet- any opinions?

ecs was a brand that i would have never touched a year ago.but when i was building a file server i needed some cheap parts fast and found a next to nothing combo deal that included an ecs board.it is a nforce 3 board so i dont have no experience with the latest stuff.i can tell you that my file server is up and running probably twelve to twenty hours at a time everyday for the last five months and i havent had one bsod or not even a hang of any kind.my voltages are very stable even with a ten to fifteen percent overclock.i also use that system to convert xvid to dvd and most here will know what that can do to a cpu.i will batch convert three or four movies at a time and the cpu can run at 100% for a very long time.still not one crash.i even leave it on over night when im downloading large files.i would still say wait for some higher end boards to come out on the platform you want if you are going to do any serious overclocking.

ECS should be releasing a AM2 crossfire board soon.
And that got a good review from bit-tech. |

shes not overclocking at all, just gaming. now this ecs thing looks decent sounds good too thanks to some reviews and GSXR- thanks friend. but i will see if asus or abit will announce/release something. just because she is gaming i would rather her use a motherboard designed for it. thanks for the info folks! -game on- common amd- bring out your secret BFCGPU

The ECS board is pretty nice ive had mine 2 weeks now, Im only running 2 * x1600xt in x-fire but I was just looking to try Crossfire out. Its just about as fast as my single x1900gt was in everything I've tried, but my CPU is likely a bottleneck, im looking to go dual core soon. Its stable, its fast, i just dont like the lack of a pci-e lock, and cas/commandrate timing settings but other than that its a solid mobo. One other thing, theres not alot of room between the two pci-e slots, i want to throw a pair of zalman vf900's on my cards but i dont know if theyll clear.

As far as i can see, the AM2 4400+ is nothing compared to the 4400+ 939 chip (1mb cache per chip vs the AM2 4400+ with only 512kb)

Does the tidewater support x1600 models? I use to have an x1600 pro and installed a vf700 -- mounting holes didnt line up so im afraid this may happen again with a more expensive cooler. Anyone tried the tidewater or have a compat. list?
