Quick question. I'm going to be switching from a CRT monitor to an LCD shortly. I was wondering if a switch to an LCD would necessitate fully reinstalling the ATI Catalyst drivers and ATI Tray Tools, or do I simply need to change the monitor profile and colour profile?

just change the monitor
.though, before you do, set the resolution to 800x600 and the refresh rate to 60Hz. The reason being, the new monitor you'll be getting might not support the resolution you currently have your present monitor set at. |

you said resolution, i said game resolution.
just because you set the basic screen res to 8x6 doesnt automaticly make the games start in 8x6. i had a problem with BF2 because of that when i switched.

Thanks for the info guys!
And no, I won't be reformating. It's one thing to ensure a clean environment for new hardware installs, and then there's just being completely over the top cuckoo. Heh, reformat.

You'd spend more time gaming and less reforming if you had Ghost

lol.....actually, i'd spend more time on forums and less time gaming
![]() i don't game very much, mainly because i browse DH like 50% of my computer time, then the rest is broken down into schoolwork, burning stuff for other people, chatting, and then gaming......gaming is only about 10% of my PC time

how much time you have to spend in a reformat and install Windows and all?
personally, i can't remember that i've ever had such a strong feeling that i want to reformat and install Windows and all again, but i do remember the feeling of using a fresh Windows install and i've never liked it myself. my feeling on using my installed Windows then get better, this will be after months goes by. |

Is that like.. arson fires? Burning stuff for people? Yeah I made some toast this morning.. felt the need to reformat. My wife out of the blue said she wanted an RX8.. I said what? They're gay.. She said yeah, ok, I want one of those Toyota Speed 6 things then. Oh wait this isn't the random thread? What the heck>?I saw all those posts of yours and thought I was in that thread.. sorry for this off topic post.

.and no, i don't mean starting arson fires for other people. some family friends have been having me burn them some copies of their home movies onto DVDs these past few weeks. the rx8 isn't gay....have you driven one? if you haven't, you can't say that they are, or that they're not until you have. |

Oh my, take a night off and sleep late, do some housework, and see what happens!
No, I wouldn't reformat, but I would get and install the monitor definition (.inf) file for the monitor so Windows recongnizes the monitor by name (if one is available...) and also knows from that file exactly what resolutions and refresh rates the monitor will display without problems... Watcha getting Spellbot 5000?
