cd-rw gone (help)

Today i opened up the My Computer icon, and found that my cd-rw icon was missing where it lists all the drives. All of a sudden it disappeared. When i try pressing the button to open the cd-rw tray, it wont open, like if it isnt responding, also, when i try looking for new hardware it wont find any, the last thing i remember doing that could have done anything was closing daemon tools, i tried searching for new hardware=no luck, opening up the cdtray=wont open, there is no response from the drive and there is no sign that it is being recognized... the drive has been working for almost a year now without problems, but all of a sudden its gone. I have Windows XP home, and a sony cd-rw (dont know the model because i cant find it nowhere on my pc, heres a link http://www.ita.sel.sony.com/support/...s/pcvrx570.pdf ) can anyone help me?!?!?!?!?! reformating would suck cause i cant backup any info since cdrw is messed up.
i can provide any extra info if needed

mines wont even open up the tray and wont show up in device manager, i have installed the new aspi drivers, and still no luck.

Default Post Power?

Have you checked the Power connector to your Drive??
Cause it's either getting no power or dead altogether

CD drives will always open if they're Getting Power...

it cant be dead because this happened to me again before, i think its this damn daemon tools messing it all up, well when it last happened i reformatted cause of whatever reason and it worked afterwards, but not i dont want to reformat, i want to find a way into fixing this...i know the drive is not broken because this problem has happened before, daemon tools must be interfering with the cd rw, but it only does when i closed the tray icon, because if i didnt it never happened, but today i did and now this is what i find myself into...sigh.... any help?

bbabnikk, if you want to delete posts, you can go to the edit button, then at the top of the edit screen there is a delete section, you check the box then click the button, click yes, and it will delete your post. If you end up having nothing to say but ".", then it would probably be a good idea. Thank you...

This happened to me with removing clone cd last week. Once you enter his site click on the Updates Page XP Tips and scroll down to Restoring Access to CD Roms. It was added 5/21/02

Dai originally posted this website in another thread to help blix9. It has some helpful info
